Remarks
I've great memories of my days. Have stayed in touch with some faculties apart from seniors and juniors. Being a university department, they may be small challenges, but the department has done extremely well in spite of the same.
Course Curriculum Overview
The curriculum had 4 semesters, 2 in each of 1st and 2nd years. The curriculum had some parts very relevant to a management program, while specialization subjects lacked the contemporary curriculum. However, the visiting faculty ensured we got exposure to some of the contemporary subjects, some even ahead of our time. Which eventually helped in my career! I felt the program was well rounded without the glitz and glamor of private institutes. Some polish/ finesse and it could have been as good as the best!
Placement Experience
There year was not particularly great for placements, with barely 10 placements on campus. However, I had cracked into an all India selection in ICICI capital, before the end of the curriculum.
College Events
Spring festival, Gandhara, Annual Seminar, Fresher's welcome and farewell of seniors were some of the memorable ones There were cultural activities, where students participated. It was a 2-day activity where students participated and displayed talent. More importantly, there was an air of fun and frolic and students bonded
Fee Structure And Facilities
The fees were very affordable, compared to private colleges. The entire fee was 30,000,0 payable in two parts, one at the start of each year. Compared to an average of 2.5 lacs in private colleges. The fee was quite affordable, making probably one of the cheapest MBA PROGRAMS.
Fees and Financial Aid
I had not availed of any scholarships for the MBA. My program was self-funded. Didn't explore scholarships, though there may be some that could have been tried
Campus Life
There was plenty of diversity, with people coming from various parts of the country, and indeed from other countries too. There were people from Nepal, Bangladesh, Kenya, Sri Lanka, Uganda apart from the North East states. I myself came all the way from Odisha. There were students across genders, from rural and urban cities. There used to be few formal games activities, but students engaged in games, there was the camaraderie among students outside classes.
Hostel Facilities
No. The hostel was common for students across all departments. Not the best way to focus on b studies. There were not adequate rooms too. Making it difficult even for those who were keen to b stay in hostels. A common practice in Pune was to take a flat and share it with 3-4 friends. I opted for the same, in a nearby locality.
Alumni/Alumna
We have an alumni association, albeit an informal one which is fairly active. We had a reunion on the campus on the occasion of 20 years of passing out. That apart, we have city chapters where alumni cutting across batches are members, and this is also fairly active. We meet at least once a year. The University chapter body also keeps in touch with us on a regular basis.
Admission
The institute was in existence for 27 years and being part of the University, it gave comfort in the quality of education, without any commercial interest associated. The Dean/ HOD was an IIMA alumnus, Dr. SL Joshi. My first interaction with him during the process of admission won me over. A fine gentleman, and he showed pragmatism in the solution to a certain problem that I had at hand. The selection included an entrance, Maharashtra CET ( Combined Entrance Test) followed by a group discussion and personal interview. We were evaluated on each of the activities, and based on the total score, there was counseling where we opt for the college, based on our score. Their test happened around mid-May, followed by the Group Discussion and personal interview around mid-June. The counseling happened in the first week of July.
Faculty
We had about 12-14 faculties, including the visiting faculties. They came with varied experiences. Some were IIMA alumni, with good experience from industry and academics while others had expertise in respective fields like business law or computers. Overall, a good mix of academics and industry experience
