My sweet 4 years

I took the Kerala state entrance. I got 8234. This was the college alloted for me. I chose computer science because i was passionate about it. You can get admitted if you have a rank under 10000 to get a merit seat. For a management seat you have to get under 20000 rank.

The course was of computer science for me. I was under 2006 scheme. Every six years the scheme changes . But now i hear there is a common scheme introduced for all universities. First year would have 9 subjects 3 labs which is common for all branches. First year both there is no semester. From 2nd year there are two semesters. Each semester have 6 subjects and 2 labs.

College doesnt offer any internship program. But forums like IEEE, FOCES are hyper active in cec. They conduct internships sometimes in college. It depends on the caliber of students who work for the forums. Other than that students can go to internships in other companies or institutes as college gives a 2 month vacation period every year. No companies come to college unless through these forums. No institute who came offered us any stipend.

There is an active placement cell called TPC working for the college. TCS(TATA) group are main company who recruit students from our college every year. They take about 50% of the students. Other companies who came to our college are Wipro, infosys, Mindtree, Suntech etc. If you have no backlogs then you can get placed easily. They offer the general market salary for beginners. 2.4 lakhs were offered from TCS, i think.

Fees is 20000 for merit seat. 65000 for management seat and above 1 lakh for NRI seat. These fees might change according to the government orders. I had a merit seat. It was feasible. Only govt colleges have less fee structure than this.

College PTA gives full fee concession to students with top ranks. Also you can apply for scholarships from govt, if eligible. I got PM scholarship for defense personalities. Loans are not available from college , you have to deal with banks for that.

Campus life is awesome in here. There are no huge campus area. The campus is around 1 acre. But it is beautiful. There are lovers corner , cafeteria, library, football , basketball, volleyball courts etc. Extracurricular activities are performed on behalf of the forums. All kind of activities are available. Gender ratio is equal. Hostel is a place for fun. Religious groups like EU are present.

An alumni fund is there and successful alumni's are invited to inspire students. Senior students are seen respectfully by juniors. Seniors are though in friendly nature. Seniors do minor ragging at first but it is to become friendly. Alumni's are present who are CEO's, civil servants, and managers in various places.

Every semester contains 2 internal exams of 50 marks, one university exam of 100 marks for each subject. Internals are out of 50 marks (25 marks from the internals, 10 for attendance, 15 for assignments). Lab exams will be out of 100 marks ( 50 internal and 50 externals). Lab exams are conducted by the internal faculty, and will have viva questions.
