Remarks
It was close to my hometown and also it offers the degree from BIT Mesra Main Campus. The stream of Computer Science is booming and hence the placement opportunities are also commendable here which includes companies such as Microsoft, Goldman Sachs, One Plus, Oracle, Samsung etc. I'm currently placed in Amdocs via campus placement.
Course Curriculum Overview
The course is well updated and includes various specialization courses like deep learning, IoT, Cloud etc. The faculties are very encouraging. To name a few, Sounak Paul, Swapan Borat, Saswata Mukherjee, K.N. Mishra (HoD of CSE) etc are very helpful and knowledgeable.
Placement Experience
The company in which I'm currently placed in is Amdocs. It offered a package of 10lakhs and 12 students were selected from my college. The technical and interview rounds were smooth and well coordinated by the TPO cell. Many alumni are doing Mtech at IITs and few are IAS too.
College Events
There are several cultural, technical and non-technical events throughout the year. The drama club organises Abhivyakti to encourage mime, plays, skits, nukkad, etc. Even in Covid they organised a few events online. The dance club and fine arts society are also very active and hosts events every 2 months. The literary club of which I was a General Secretary hosts multiple events every year like creative writing, poem reciting, Just a minute, debates, presentation, paper presentation etc. Apart from these, the annual techno-cultural fest Utthaan hosts a number of events under it's name and invites famous singers and guests over a span of three days. Few notable guests are Julia Bliss, Dev Negi, Local Train etc.
Fees and Financial Aid
I got recommended to Microsoft for an intern by my professors. Yes BIT Scholarship is awarded for scoring above 8 CGPA. But I wasn't able to avail that due to the parents salary limits. The institute offers fee waiver upto 50-60% based on parents' annual income and the CGPA obtained.
Campus Life
The institute has a gym, library with reading room, 3 computer labs, various electrical and electronics labs, open-air theatre, production lab etc. The campus has an unlimited WiFi LAN system. There are 3 floors with more than 10 classrooms.
Hostel Facilities
In first year - 3 sharing. Second year onwards 2 sharing room. Room sizes are really big with beds, table and chair alloted already. The infrastructure of hostels are really good to thrive. The hostel is 3 floored with separate girls and boys hostels. There is 1 girls hostel and 2 boys hostels separated by a distance of 600m within the campus boundary.
