Remarks
Our college is very good for those who want to have a quality education and in budget fees. The staff, faculty, infrastructure is very good and the college ambience is also superb. Lectures are conducted on a regular basis and hence we get a good quality education here. The management is also good and they are always keen to keep the students updated to face the competition. The management is really trying very hard to bring reputed companies for the student campus. Hence I feel that it is very good experience studying in Vidyalankar Institute of Technology, Mumbai.
Entrance Preview
I took the CET Exam conducted by the Maharashtra State for MBA entrance exam. I got 110 out of 200. I opted for this college because I had heard that this college provides wonderful educational opportunities for MBA aspirants. The staff and guest lecturers availed by the college is more or less the same as availed by the Welingkar College, which is considered one of the topmost college for MBA courses.
Course Curriculum Overview
The course curriculum was very elaborate and practical. We had a course of 2 years Full time MBA. Since I had opted for MBA (MMS) in Marketing, we had various subjects which thoroughly gave the knowledge of marketing concepts and applications. Apart from that the curriculum also included PPT presentations and various projects that helped us gain the practical knowledge of all the marketing concepts.
Internships Opportunities
College internship experience was very good. I got selected in Amul India for the position of Retail sales. Amul wanted to introduce their new product in market by the name, " Amul Pro", a protein based powder like Bournvita and Horlicks for people of all age groups. So we needed to visit retail stores and introduce and appeal the retailer to showcase this product in their retail shop. The stipend offer was Rs. 5000/- per month and internship was for 2 months.
Placement Experience
Placements in the college were quite good. Many reputed companies like Reliance, Amul, Videocon, H.P., Motorola, Honda, etc. I got placed in Reliance Retail as Assistant Manager in Reliance Fresh. I got the package of Rs. 4.5 Lac P.A. Other companies offered packages around 5 Lacs approx on an average. But very few students were selected in the campus rounds. Other students got job through their own references.
College Events
Our college conducts various events but they are mostly at the college level only. We conduct various technical events for technical students and keep handsome prizes for them. Apart from that we have various cultural programs conducted. Most of these programs are organised in the month of January. The participation in these events is mostly from our college only from different departments like diploma, engineering students and faculties etc.
Fee Structure And Facilities
Fee structure is feasible as compared to other colleges. At our time we had a fee of Rs. 1.10 Lac per year. Fees were bit less in case of the OBC/SC/NT caste students. Now as per my knowledge the current fees is around Rs. 1.35 Lac per year for MMS 2 years Full time course.
Fees and Financial Aid
I had not opted for any scholarships or loans but there were students who took some government scholarships and took benefit of it. Even education loan facilities were available, some students took it also.
Campus Life
College life was good. We had various events conducted by Diploma, Engineering and MMS departments. Various debates and cultural events were organised every year in January. We also have various labs for various department students and mostly for diploma and engineering students like computer labs, mechanical labs, electronics labs etc. For sports activities, we have 2 grounds on which one can play cricket, football, basket ball etc. Also indoor games consists of chess, carom etc. Library is also separate for various departments and is fully AC and well equipped with all the necessary books and magazines, newspapers etc.
Hostel Facilities
Unfortunately the college does not have the hostel facilities. People coming from outside mumbai need to find their own staying facilities. But there are few PG rooms and rental rooms available in the nearby areas like CGS colony, Wadala West, Dadar, Sion, Kurla, Chembur etc. Students coming from outside usually stay in these areas. Even one can ask for any references or sources to college staff, they might help.College canteen is too good. It provides one of the tastiest food ever I had in my life. I usually visit my college canteen to enjoy the food. The prices are average not so high but in budget.
Alumni/Alumna
Alumni network is very strong we regularly receive all the updates on the upcoming events in our college. We do visit our college frequently for that. Our college seniors are also very cooperative and they are always ready for any help. Some of our friends got jobs in various companies with the help of our seniors.
Exam Structure
In our 2 years full time MMS course, we had semester pattern in which each semester had 5 theory papers. All papers were of 100 marks. The exam duration was 3 hours. We also had Project submission and project presentation in our final year. It was of 200 marks. So in 2 years we had total 4 semesters and 20 subjects and 1 project submission.
Faculty
College faculty was very good some faculties were from Welingkar college. All faculties were knowledgeable and with good conceptual understanding of Marketing. Hence the overall faculty was very good. Also full time college faculty was good in practical experience.
