Course Curriculum Overview
The course is really good. You will have one year of course work compulsory, later followed by the project work. The project work is the main important thing in pHD, where you will judged based on your technical knowledge and skills. You need to design your own experiments and carry out research work under the guidance of the mentor assigned.
Placement Experience
The placement opportunities for my course is nil to very few. The research scholars are often converted to do post doc or other wise join the academics. But some companies like TCS life sciences, do give them opportunities to work in R&D.
Fee Structure And Facilities
The fee structure is quite feasible. The fees for this course comes around 45,000 INR per year. The MHRD/CSIR gives the NET qualified students with monthly scholarships. So its more like a job cum higher studies. You can compensate your expenses as well as your fees.
Campus Life
The college conducts lots of seminars and workshops. The labs are awesome. You will never feel like coming out of it. The work will keep you so occupied and you will love the lab atmosphere and culture.
Hostel Facilities
There are hostels available for pHD students, with absence of house allowance given by CSIR management. The hostels surroundings and environment is pleasant and the whole place allows you to concentrate on your academics peacefully.
Alumni/Alumna
The alumni are good and they visit the lab often to share their further experiments with the mentor. They even teach us lots of new terminologies and other experiments which they have learnt recently. The seniors are the real guides of lab. They help us to accustomised to the lab culture and help us to learn the desired technique perfectly.
Admission
The admission in this college, is taken place by you clearing the most toughest scientific entrance exam CSIR-NET/UGC.The college if qualified, will call you for the interview round for assessment. And later intimate the results of selection.
Faculty
The faculties are highly educated and are kind of experts in the field of their domain. My mentor for the pHD completion was very sweet. He never stalled the experimental publications and always taught me how to be patient and interpret the results even if something goes wrong. As wrong results sometimes turn out to be true. How to identify small details and why they are important.
