Remarks

CFTRI is a College having a 70+ year long history and that was enough of a reason for me to choose it for my Master's degree. The college is affiliated with Mysore University & it is a Private institute. CFTRI is also given approval by AICTE group. Students seeking admission to the M.Sc program in this college will have to apply for the CFTRI entrance exam.

Course Curriculum Overview

5

The specialisation I chose for my M.Sc was Food Technology as it has built a good demand over the years. The M.Sc programme is of 2 years which has a total of 4 semesters in it. We also had practical facilities so that the content can be offered to us in the easiest & effective ways. The college also used to organise various kinds of academic competitions.

Internships Opportunities

4

No, I haven't participated in the internship round because I wasn't sure if it would really help me in the long run. However the decision may not seem good to some but I finalised after a few consultations and was ok with it.

Placement Experience

4

Our college is a trustworthy Private college of our state and that's the reason why companies such as ITC, Infosys and Unilever Ltd visit the college for placement offers to the deserving of. Packages are given under Food care, Operations, IT domains and a good number of students got placed. The average package for the course varies every year

Fees and Financial Aid

We had to pay two annual shifts of INR 24,000 for the M.Sc programme at CFTRI. As the total programme fee is just INR 48K thus no such pressure of fee is put on the students. For candidates who match the eligibility, Merit based scholarships are also available.

Campus Life

4

Our college campus has a good package of Learning as academic, Co-curricular and sports facilities are available in the college. For a good touch of practical knowledge, we were given laboratory sessions also and a variety of seminars and workshops are organised by the institute. The college also has a good Hall, library and modern tech equipment for the students.

Hostel Facilities

4

I lived with my Uncle-Aunt who had a flat near our college and as we had family relations so I decided to live with them. Some students lived in Hostels/PGs for their Journey with CFTRI . There is something really good about this life because it is arguably the best time one experiences in their student life.

Admission

CFTRI College conducts a Special entrance exam for admission and students interested to opt for the M.Sc - FT course in this college must appear in this exam. Students must have completed their UG in relevant field to become eligible for the M.Sc admissions.

Placement Experience:

Placements at RNS Institute of Technology are good. Students become eligible for campus placements from the 6th or 7th semester. Many companies visit the college, including IT and core companies. Some of the common recruiters include TCS, Infosys, Wipro, Accenture, and a few core companies for EEE. The average package is around 3 to 5 LPA, and higher packages are also offered for top-performing students. The highest package can go much higher depending on the company. Around 70–80% of students get placed, mainly in IT roles. For EEE students, core placements are limited, but there are good opportunities in software roles. The college also provides training and support for placements. After completing my degree, I plan to get placed in a good company and build my career.

Placement Experience:

Placement in my college is decent, wiyh around 90% of students are getting placed. Students usually become eligible for placement in their final year and the college provides internships opportunities before that, which helps in gaining experience. Many companies visit to campus mainly from marketing and sales, along with some roles in HR and operations. The number of offer is good but option for finance and analytic are comparatively limited.

Most of the students get placed from the campus placements. Students get eligible for campus placements from the fifth semester. Companies like HP, Infosys, Wipro come for recruiting and make offers from 3L per annum to 30 L per annum. Around 70 percent of the students get placed through campus placement. I plan on working for a dream company after completing my degree.

Most of the students after completing four years, continue to stay here to get Masters degree after one more year and pursue PhD from world renowned institutions. Very few people (<7/100) per batch will sit for campus placements and most of them will be selected with a good annual package of 30000 at an average. Some students, mostly Physocs majors can give government exams like ICRB, GATE to join ISRO and BARC as scientists
