Karnataka State Open University(KSOU) is located in Mysuru, Karnataka. It is a State Public University founded on 1 June 1996. It came into force as an Act of State Legislature in 1992. The university is approved by UGC. KSOU is a premier place for Open and Distance Learning programs. Working professionals, homemakers, or students who seek part-time jobs can attend these programs and can gain higher education.
The University conducts admission for the courses of M.A., M.Com, B.A., B.Com, M.sc, and MBA programs for distance learning. For admission into B.A./B.Com, candidates need to complete their class 12 examination from a recognized board or have appeared for two years pre-University examination.
3.1 How to Apply?
For M.A./M.Com, candidates must possess a graduation in the requisite field with an aggregate score of 50% in the said subjects. For M.sc, candidates must have a valid graduation degree in the requisite field.
For MBA, candidates who have completed their graduation in any specific discipline are eligible. For PhD and Diploma courses, candidates need to complete graduation/post-graduation in the specific field with an aggregate of 50%.
Admission is done priorly two times in a year i.e. January and June as per the guidelines provided by UGC-DEB. Students get an added advantage as they have online resources and an E-Learning portal for their ease of studying.
KSOU has established a Skill Development Centre which helps students to prepare for the competitive examinations. Students adopting for coaching get hostel accommodation and other boarding facilities. Personal Contact Programmes(PCP) are conducted to clear doubts and concerns of the students undergoing Distance Learning.

KSOU Mysore Admission
The selection for any of the UG, PG, Diploma, PG Diploma, and Ph.D. programs is made based on the marks scored in the last qualifying examination. There is no entrance exam conducted for admission into the institute. Admissions are direct merit-based.

KSOU Mysore Scholarships
KSOU provides post-matric scholarships to the candidates studying at the institute. Post-Matric Scholarship is provided in the terms of fee reimbursement, hostel fees. The institute also avails a defense scholarship for the students whose parents are the personnel of any wing in the Indian Army.
To avail of the scholarship, there are certain norms and conditions. Post Matric Scholarship is available for those SC/ST caste candidates whose annual income is between less than or between 2.5-10 lakhs. The certificates required to satisfy the eligibility criteria are Income Certificate, Caste Certificate, and Bonafide Certificate.
