Remarks

The Sitalkuchi college was established in the year 1999. It works under the Cooch Bear Panchanan Barma University of West Bengal. The college promises to give a quality education to all the students in the society.

Course Curriculum Overview

The course is designed on the CBCS pattern. So we have semester exams twice a academic year. The curriculum is prepared in a wise manner so that imparts a deep knowledge about the world and Indian history.

Placement Experience

3.5

The college has a placement cell. But the cell doesn't provide direct job offers. Rather they provide all the training and guidance needed to choose with the career pathway. This is because, some may prefer to go to job while some other students will prefer to gi with higher studies.

Fee Structure And Facilities

The fee structure is so feasible that it costs only about ?.2,000 approximately for the UG courses. This cost has to be paid for each year of study. You can never find any other college offering courses at this cost.

Fees and Financial Aid

The meritorious and financially weaker students are provided with stipends and scholarships. The college helps in applying for the government scholarships as well as the non- governmental scholarships.

Campus Life

We have a student union to take care and co ordinate all the cultural events of the college throughout the academic year. The sports and games club is the main reason for organizing annual sports meet. The complaints filed by the students are always heared and taken action through online grievance cell.

Admission

The process of admission is pretty simple. All you have to do is apply through the online application form and stay updated for any further notices. The eligibility for this course that you should have passed the HSC or equivalent board exam with some minimum percentage. But preference will be given to the merit candidates.

Faculty

4.5

The department of History is an active department with a bunch of vibrant faculty members. We have seminar sessions which is assigned by the staffs to bring out the talents of the students and make everyone become a star in their topic.

Placement Experience:

People who major in my department usually opt for masters over placement not because of this college but because overall industrial or academic opportunities are better with a pg degree. Masters from this college is not recommended as i have heard so from my seniors. Some of my seniors managed to crack competitives and secure MSc seats at great places. Training and Placement cell had a good coordinator previously but now its almost non existent. Companies do come and hire Bpharm, Mpharm and MSc candidates. Packages are below average. Only Nestle pays well. But if you do well you'll eventually climb up the corportate ladder. From the time i am here i have not heard of any BSc candidate getting placed. Most go for higher studies.

I choose this course because the curriculum combines clear theoretical foundations with strong practical exposure, and hands on session influenced by decision most. The exam pattern was good. Moderate paper was there. Examiner had done a great job. For the curriculum we always had to pay extra money. In our 7th sem, we had all India tour, we did have any practical classes or theory exam still we had to pay for the practical and library not only that we had to pay for the trip as well.

Reviewed on Dec 17, 2024(Enrolled 2020)

Course Curriculum Overview:

The course curriculum was well thought out as per me but there were subjects that i found absolutely unnecessary. Subjects like history evs and clc were in no way related to my course. Coming to the main subjects Design, Printing, Photography and film and Media Training were absolutely necessary for my course and whilst the faculty for some of these subjects were really bad, some were good. It is also important to mention none of these subjects actually helped us prepare for the real world. Instead internships and freelance helped us more than these subjects could ever do. Exams were held bi monthly to keep track of what we learnt and every 6 months we had our semester exams. Overall if you want to be a media professional INTERNSHIPS AND JOBS WILL HELP YOU MORE THAN A COLLEGE WILL. I am biased on this opinion as my college didnt provide me with the correct guidance and support i needed to make it in the real world.

The curriculum is perceived as average , lacking specific elements that might make it stand out. In my case, the motivation was not to waste a year by opting for a drop. The flexibility in attendance which let me focus on other interests. The curriculum is same as MAKAUT, and the exam frequency is also controlled by MAKAUT .Areas of improvement is infrastructure and better faculty.
