Our college have been working for many years and providing students knowledge about the various areas of fashion industry, production, technology, merchandising, communication and suitable fashion. Highly qualified teachers and experts from the industry train the students and endow them with the required knowledge and skill for the apparel & fashion sector. SOFT aims at equipping the students with intellect, creativity and confidence for a bright future ahead.
Course Curriculum Overview
The course focuses in imparting student's exposure to the nuances and complexities of the different panels of the fashion and apparent industry. The course curriculum core content basically focuses on an integrated approach to technology, design, fashion and communication. The subjects which are taught during our 4 year period are introduction to textiles, introduction to fashion, sketching and making pattern of draping, the current fashion trend and forecasting, apparel development, model & prototype development, Fashion model drawing & fashion accessory etc. In the last semester, we are taught about fashion design thesis studio in order to make the candidates profession in expressing their creative side.
Placement Experience
Job roles such as fashion assistant, costume designer, personal stylist and fashion show organizer were given to many of the students from my batch from top recruiting companies such as Louis Phillip, e Spree, Nike, Reebok, Van Hues-an, Adidas etc. The average starting salary that was provided ranges from 4 to 7 LPA. Internships were also offered to students in costume design, graphic designer and cutting assistant.
Fee Structure And Facilities
The first year fees is around 136000. The total fees for 4 years is approximately 5.44 lakh. An additional fees of 1000 is to be paid in the form of registration during the admission. The hostel and mess charges are to be paid separately as decided by the college. From my side this fee structure is quite feasible and affordable as compared to the other colleges.
Campus Life
We have an event known as Inspiro which is held every year. Other than that, a fashion ramp walk is also organised by the college campus to provide students a platform to showcase the talent. Workshops and conferences on apparel design, fashion and textile industry etc. Sports activities such as Football, basketball, table tennis, badminton are also conducted time to time.
Admission
The students who have secure the minimum of 45% marks in class 12th are eligible to apply. You can apply by online mode and pay an application fees of 2800 before taking an online entrance exam. SOFT-CET is an online test which is conducted to select the candidates for the fashion and design program. The shortlisted students if selected are evaluated on the basis of different parameters such as group discussions, personal interview and portfolio presentation. Some seats are also reserved for the women candidates. Based on your marks, a merit list will be prepared which is given 50% weight-age and if lucky you will be given admission in the college.
Faculty
The teachers of the college are well experienced and have a teaching experience of more than 10 years. They tell us about in detail of the fashion industry and how the designers over their learn to integrate the design, ethics within the cultural and social contexts. The guest faculty members are also invited by the college to give us more knowledge about the fashion and textile industry. In short I would say that the teachers are really amazing and are approachable at any point of time.
