Remarks
The university keeps the students always in a positive attitude. This is because they treat even us who study under DDE as the same as those who study in regular batch. This highlights how well the education system is framed and the importance of educating young minds.
Course Curriculum Overview
The course includes papers that would go in advance when compared to the UG degree. The syllabus are framed in a view of inculcating a deep knowledge about the floral diversity and also focuses on widening the aspects of botany in the latest trends of science industry. The exam pattern is fixed one, where we have 2 semesters per year. Each paper has an internal assessment and an external examination. The most important thing to note is the Personal Contact Program. This is an unique feature to help the students of DDE. This is for both practical and theory papers and is mandatory for appearing in exams.
Placement Experience
The university provides job opportunities for those who are studying in regular mode. The companies will prefer the full-time learners over the DDE students. But still there are scope for getting placed in good companies.
Fee Structure And Facilities
The fee structure differs from each stream of study. Since mine is a science subject, it will include fee for practical sessions. But I have got a fee waiver of 25%. This is because the university, in spite of studying in DDE mode, provides fee waiver to those who have studied in Alagappa university before. It can be either regular/ correspondence mode. But you will get a 25% wavier in your fees.
Campus Life
The university has Science Instrumentation Centre (USIC), solar park, health care centre, center for competitive exams, skill development, gymnasium and all the basic facilities for the students. There is a Grievance Redressal Cell even for the students who study in DDE of the university.
Hostel Facilities
Actually DDE mode have no need for rooms to stay. But the university has separate hostels for both boys and girls. When you are attending the Personal Contact Program, you can apply for the stay in the university hostel.
Admission
The admission for DDE mode is quite easy. I had dowloaded the form from www.alagappauniversity.ac.in and payed ?.300/- as it's a PG degree. You can also apply through the authorized learning centres of Alagappan University. The list of learning centre is also available in their website. You have to post the filled in application form along with the documents they need for verification. After scrutinising the application form, you will be provided with an enrollment number and an identity card.
Faculty
The faculties are always there to hear the queries of students. Though we study in DDE mode, they help us with qualitative materials. Our Jothibasu sir is much talented to publish a lot journals and his main area of interest is plant-microbe interaction. All the faculties help us to submit the assignments within deadline and score good marks in internals.
