My Honest Experience at Sathyabama Institute of Science and Technology

Curriculam for ECE is solid. I did not choose this course based on the curriculam. The curriculam does not prepare us for the real-world applications but it definitely prepares us for further academic pursiuts. I would suggest including some soft skills course and some placement related course to be included in the curriculam. speacial courses and language is taught after the college hours, I wish they would do it in the college hours so that students travelling from long get the oppurtunity to learn from it. The exams are held in a fairly long intervals of time. The exams are easy to score once u get hold of the concepts.

Amazon recently is hiring through internship and we have been writing tests and will be shortlisted for it.Many companies are coming to college to hire students for internship. Our college has partnership with government recerch facilities like ISRO and gives us some intership oppurtunities. There are also internship oppurtunites in foreign universities for which all expenses are covered by the college

Students are eligible for campus placements from the second half of third year which is the 6th semester. Many companies like Amazon, Juspay, JPMorgan, Bank of America and so on are coming for placements . More than 100 companies are visiting for hiring students. The average salary offer is 5 lakhs and the highest this year is 41 lakhs offered by Amazon. The percentage of students getting placed is very high like last year it was 95% . This year we had more than 3500 offers . My plan is to get a stable job and maybe after few years doing higher studies.

I have to pay 2,25,000 for each year of my degree. There is no other fees like bus fees, admission fees, lab fees,etc . I am not eligible for any scholarship nor do I have any reservation. Some of my friends were given scholarship through various foundations and charitable trusts. They have full fees scholarship and if any student is staying in hostel the hostel fees is covered in the scholarship too. Recently the college has asked us to pay the placement fees. This is the only fees other than tution fees they collect. The placement fees is 29000. It has been payed in two installments .Thats all about the fees structure

We have Technosummit each year. recenty we had Youthfest that happend over a period of 7 days. There are more than 40 clubs in the college and each club hold event monthly or sometimes weekly. The library is pretty big but lacks diverse books. When we have open book test they dont have enough books that are relevant to the exams. The classrooms are the basic and average rooms you can find everywhere. some classes have projecter but majority do not have it. Sports and extracurricular activities are only conducted by sports club and there are no PT periods. We have a start-up cell where they incubate startups and give funding to students to create their dreams.

I applied to many colleges before this college. I tried to get into Birla Institute in Pilani but was unable to get into due to a 50 mark defecit. I got EEE in Amirtha Banglore and Mechanical in Shiv Nadar Institute in Noida. I did not join there due to the large fees they ask. I joined this college as at last and came in as a management student. The college has eligibilty exam that will lower the fees according to the mark scored but I was too late to realize it. The admission process was really smooth and simple

Most of the faculties are well educated and know the subject. They speak fluent english and can teach in intersting ways. I dont want to say the faculty name but some faculties dont know how to teach and handle students. sometimes staff with no subject knowledge are assigned and that is frustating for the students. Most of the faculties are super friendly and easy to get along. we have two internal exams and then the semester happens. The practical are held after the internals and before the semester exams. The exams are pretty easy, if u get hold of the concepts its very easy to score good marks. The curriculam is ok but it should include some placement related stuff.

Since I am not hostel student I dont know many things about the night life. But I heard from my friends that the canteen, water filling stations are sometimes closed after college and its an issue. There are many malls around the college and many food streets where students can eat a variety of foods.
