What Students Say
Likes
- The campus is well maintained with clean classrooms, green greenery and a disciplined environment that feel safe and comfortable.
- There are many events, workshops and fests happening throughout the year which keep the campus active and give good exposure beyond just academics.
Dislikes
- Some faculty are not very approchable outside the class, not friendly, difficult to get doubts cleared.
- Sometimes, the hygiene of the mess and canteen is disappointing, as we have even found insects or foreign particles in the food.
- The attitude of some HODs and higher senior staff are quitely strict and not very student friendly so it becomes difficult to discuss issues or get support without hesitation.
Course Curriculum Overview
Course covers core CSE with AI & Robotics, mostly relevant to industry but some subjects but some subjects and tools feel slighlty outdated. Syllabus balances theory and labs, build coding and AI basics, yet could add more real projects and current frameworks. Currculum prepares decently for jobs and higher studies, but stronger internship tie-ups and industry case studies would help more. Exams happen regularly with internals and practicals, difficulty is moderate but often focuses more on theory than problem-solving. Overall Curriculum is good for foundations, yet need more modern electives, project based learning and exposure to real world tools.
Internships Opportunities
Still Now, I haven't worked with companies who provided with stipend but I did for non-stipend under domain like Programming in python, MySQL and Generative AI where SkillfyInfotech and Future Interns provided. I also did some 3 tasks in each domain and have it in my github profile available like chatbots, building basic database using SQL, manging them, etc.
Placement Experience
Students become eligible for Placement- Training from 3rd semester and now companies are starting to approach from 6th semester with some internship offers starting from the 5th semester half itself for interested and eligible students. Major Recruiters: TCS, Wipro, Infosys, Tech, Mahindra and local companies. Highest package is around 8-10 LPA, average 3-4 LPA for software, support and analyst roles, roughly 70-80% of eligible students get placed each year. After my degree, I plan to get placed in a good FAANG company so after that I will explore many opportunities as well in parallel.
Fees and Financial Aid
The fee structure at Sathyabama is mainly charged on a yearly basis and is divided into tuition fees, hostel fees (if opted) and some one-time charges like admission and caution deposit. For my batch, The yearly tution fees for B.E. CSE with specialisation in AI & Robotics is around the typical private engineering range, paid in a single instalment before the semester. Students who came through management quota generally pay a higher tutition fees compared to join through entrance or merit-based seats. There are few scholarship and financial aid options available, mostly based on academin performance and specific criteria.
Campus Life
Our Annual fest Xplore is in March and the technical fest "TechPulse" is usually organized in September each academic year. The library has a good range of textbooks, reference books and journals across departments, with easy access and a digital portal for searching and issuing. The Classrooms have projectors, Wi-Fi with decent seating and ventilation, making it comfortable for regualr lectures and occasional presentations. They offer many sports encouraging students to participate beyond academics including NCC. Also They have active student clubs and online portals that help in networking.
Admission
I applied to a few local colleges and I wrote Entrance exam in VIT, SRM and SNU, but due to some constraint, I wasn't shortlisted so I checked out this college where there are better placement support, and overall campus environment. Yeah! As I said, I was rejected because my entrance rank and scores were slightly below their cutoff and I hadn't prepared strategically for their specific exams. It requires eligibility in 12th/Previous degree, valid score in the accepted entrance exam, meeting counselling, and document verification.
Faculty
Faculty are generally knowledgable and some are very supportive, but a few are strict and not very approachable. Exams happen regularly, are moderate in difficulty and the syllabus is mostly relevant to industry, Mostly Liked Inviligator, Dr. R. Surya (Optimisation Techniques for computing Prof.), Dr. V. K. Bupesh Raja and C.Ramesh Kumar (Prof. of Physics), So these two are my favorities. I don't like many faculties because of their boring teaching skills but most disliked Professors, I don't want to mention their names. In a semester, we usually have internals, assignments and one main end semester exam, papers are moderate if you study regularly and only a small percentage of students fail because it is core and little lengthy.
Night Life
Honestly, I can't give true feedback about this as I am a day scholar but I will share what my friend shared about his experience of Night life, Gym, canteen, library they get closed by maximum 9-10 pm, hostels by 9:30pm, popular hangouts nearby area where most friends hangout.
Other Applied Colleges
SRM Institute of Science and Technology - [SRMIST] | Bachelor of Technology [B.Tech] (Electric Vehicle Technology)
I wrote Entrance exam SRMEEE but I got eliminated in a very few rank limit
