Experienced staffs with good training

We had three year (Six Semester) programme equips trainees with all the required Skills, Knowledge and Attitude to efficiently discharge managerial and supervisory responsibilities in the hospitality sector. It was a good course were we have to work little bit harder than the other usual courses mainly practical classes it is a bit tough in practical.

We had placements in the mid of our fifth semester. The hotel groups coming for placements varied from year to year. The hotel groups that came for campus selections till now are IHG and Oberoi. Some of the top companies that come for placement at IHMCT Kovalam are the Taj Group of Hotel, Hyatt, Marriot, Burger King, IHG, Dominos, Yes Bank, Puma and KFC.

Our college conducted food festival which gave students an opportunity to exhibit our talents. Food Fest Fandango was conducted in the college, every year, for the students to learn on how to handle the real-life situation. And all the common events were also celebrated.

Total fees for this course was around Rs.1.06 Lakhs per annum and it was feasible for students who have opted for the course as it not only dealt with education but also provides lot of facilities which every student can enjoy such as WiFi, library etc. Cafeteria also provides good food for a lesser price. Hostel fee is also feasible for the students who came from outstation.

The institute offered us various facilities like cafeteria, hostels, etc. Cultural fest named Catafest was conducted twice in a year. Sports meet was also organised for the whole university. College campus has a basketball court, a badminton court, a volleyball court, and some space to play football.

Our biggest asset was strong alumni base. The Government of Kerala desired occupation-wise details of those alumni for who were interested to work in Northern Territory of Australia in the sectors - Hospitality, Healthcare and Geriatric Care. This connection with the alumni is the lifeline of our students, simultaneously encouraging and motivating them. Many of my batchmates got opputunity to go work there.

IHM Kovalam admission process for BSc was entrance-based. We students need to clear NCHMCT JEE for selection. The admission process for Diploma courses was merit-based. The application process for both programmes was conducted online. I got admission as I was able to clear and score good marks.

Courses offered in IHM were diploma in hospitality (duration of 1.5 years) and degree in hospitality (3 years). The teaching quality of faculty is very good. Methods used for teaching were using visual and audible devices including projectors, PPTs, etc. Faculties of the college were very good and professionally trained. We also had regular guest lectures, where professionals from the industry dropped to give their inputs which helped us during placements.
