Remarks
Teachers and students share a good rapport. The teaching quality is good. Since there is a better understanding between the students the learning becomes easy and often use presentations along with oral and practical teaching to assist students in classes.
Course Curriculum Overview
The three year (Six Semester) programme equips trainees with all the required Skills, Knowledge and Attitude to efficiently discharge managerial and supervisory responsibilities in the hospitality sector. Students with minimum qualification of plus 2 are admitted to the course through an All India Joint Examination conducted by the National Council during the month of April/May.
Placement Experience
Placements start at the mid of fifth semester. The hotel groups coming for placements vary from year to year. The percentage of placements in this batch was rather good. The hotel groups that came for campus selections till now are IHG and Oberoi. More hotels are to come on the following days. Some of the top companies that come for placement at IHMCT Kovalam are the Taj Group of Hotel, Hyatt, Marriot, Burger King, IHG, Dominos, Yes Bank, Puma and KFC
Fee Structure And Facilities
Total fees for this course comes around Rs.1.06 Lakhs per annum and it is feasible for students who have opted for the course as it not only deals with education but also provides lot of facilities which every student can enjoy such as WiFi, library etc. Cafeteria also provides good food for a lesser price. Hostel fee is also feasible for the students who come from outstation.
Campus Life
The infrastructure that IHMCT provides to its students is very good. There is a separate kitchen for each batch to learn the art of cooking. There are rooms and restaurant inside the college to facilitate training of students in different departments like housekeeping and food and beverage. The whole campus is enabled with the Wi-Fi facility, and its speed is fast. The college has food production labs and training restaurants to enhance the practical learning of trainees. The college also has a gym, basketball court, football ground, and TT rooms, which were often used during our free time. There are sharing rooms for hostellers.
Alumni/Alumna
Our biggest asset is a strong alumni base The Government of Kerala desires occupation-wise details of those alumni who are interested to work in Northern Territory of Australia in the sectors - Hospitality, Healthcare and Geriatric Care. This connection with the alumni is the lifeline of our students, simultaneously encouraging and motivating them.
Admission
In order to get admission one should have passed in 12th/Intermediate or its equivalent from any recognized board/university in all subjects. The selection of the candidate will be purely based on the merit of the JEE score. I got admission after I cleared the JEE exam with good score. The selection criteria are purely merit based.
Faculty
Faculty members of the college are very good and professionally trained. They were all very helpful in my studies. Courses offered in IHM are diploma in hospitality (duration of 1.5 years) and degree in hospitality (3 years). The teaching quality of faculty is very good. Methods used for teaching are using visual and audible devices including projectors, PPTs, etc.
