Entrance Preview
I had undergone an interview with the principal and the dean of the college after my results of the 12th Standard. The entrance process was based on the marks obtained in my PUC Level Examination.
Course Curriculum Overview
Being an autonomous college it had freedom to design its own syllabus. Hence the curriculum was one of the best in the state. St. Josephs College of Commerce being one of the top 10 colleges in India it maintained its standards.
Internships Opportunities
It was an internship of our choice for 4 to 6 weeks. In any commerce related sector of our choice. The stipend was not much as it was only a one month internship.
Placement Experience
The placements were excellent. The Companies that came in were Goldman Sachs, Google, DE Shaw, Ernst & Young, KPMG. Delloits, Gen Pact, Tally, Accenture, Tata Consultancy Services.
College Events
There was an college fest happening every month both inter collegiate events and collegiate events. There were colleges across the country that were invited to participate in such fests.
Fee Structure And Facilities
Fees were around 20,00 per semester. In my opinion they were not very expensive. As the quality of education given to us was excellent. Hence not at all very expensive.
Fees and Financial Aid
No, I did not avail of any scholarship / loan facility during my college education. However, there was a special sports quota for students and also a tie up with an International University in UK.
Campus Life
Since Bangalore has many colleges that are girls only, ours being a coed the ratio of boys to girls was 3:1. There was no discrimination in race, religion, politics or economic status. And knowledge was the ultimate goal.
Hostel Facilities
There were no hostel facilities provided by the college. Our college was in the most prime location in Bangalore ie. Brigade/ M.G road hence finding accommodation was an easy task.
Alumni/Alumna
Well at the college official level there was no concept of alumni as the college did not organised such gatherings. We had a strict no ragging policy and a ragging complaint if reached the principal would have severe consequences hence no such activities took place.
Exam Structure
We had a semester system. The year was divided into 2 academic parts so in 3 years we had 6 semesters. At the end of the semester we were examined on the entire syllabus of the semester with papers of 100 marks each.
Faculty
The faculty was highly qualified. Most of them were very engaging, they used to interact with the class well and have regular assessments of the topics taught. They used to also conduct quizzes and give us a practical exposure to the subject.
