Remarks

The authority here is very strict and they do pay very less heed to student's opinions regarding a particular matter in the campus.

Course Curriculum Overview

4

The course curriculum of almost all IITs is practical world demanding process driven, ie it guides students into learning and developing technologies that is currently in deficit in the present world. Technologies that the world has the greatest demand for forms the basis of our course. It is offcourse well research driven, but how fair it is depends on implementation. The IIT system exposes us to global problems and requirements, through the various internships that students undergo in these years, both on as well as off campus. Placements are well co-ordinated by the CDC providing us a good environment to impart our knowledge into use.

Placement Experience

3.5

Regarding placements, on campus placements are decided by Career development cell, IIT BBS. In 2020, almost 86% ug students got placed with the highest package being 43. 3 lakhs pa to 2 students of Cs and 1 student of ec. The placements for pg students stood at around 65%. Reputed comepanies like Adobe, Microsoft, Tata, Capgemini, Larsen and Turbo, Samsung, OnGc, Bhel, Goldman Sachs came for on campus placements.

College Events

4

Alma fiesta-the biggest socio-cultural fest of Odisha with a footfall of around 25000. Celebrated in late January, it was heralded as the biggest debutant fest in 2010 by Telegraph in East India. Wissenaire-The techno management fest, with various competions on robotics, tech workshops etc. E-summit-The annual entrepreneurship conclave that brings in eminent speakers/entrepreneurs to enlighten the folk. Ashwamedha-The annual sports fest to improve the sporting culture in our college.

Fee Structure And Facilities

For Unreserved students, the tution fee is 1lakh/semester(6 months) and for sc/st/obc(irrespective of their economic background), their tution fee is 20000. Additional fees(hostel, campus maintenance etc) sum up to around 50000 for everyone making the course fee at around 3 lakh per year for UR and 1. 3 lakh per year for sc/st/obc. However if, one comes from a poor economic background, the College arranges for scholarship a d fee relaxation for the student concerned.

Fees and Financial Aid

I did not opt for any scholarship or loan to study in my Institute. The entire money is debited from my Father's bank account

Campus Life

3

Gender ratio:Male:female=5:1. Student parties-especially after completeion of fests or successful outcomes by any society. Gender related strictness is very relaxed here, with any boy able to visit a girl's hostel from 9 am to 9 pm and vice versa. There are no issues regarding sexual orientation, race, religion, politics and economic status.

Hostel Facilities

5

Yes. We have single room hostels in IIT BBS. We have a well catered mess facility in our respective hostels that serves quite nice food in comparison to hostels of other colleges in our country. Thanks.

Alumni/Alumna

IIT BBS has its own Alumni cell, that looks after our Alumni that has passed out in the past and keeps us in contact with them. Seniors are very helpful here-a reason aptly why it is an anti RAGGING campuses are quite frequent with them through our societies and fests.

Admission

To get admission into any one of the 23 IITs in our nation, one has to give 2 phases of the JEE exam-Jee mains and Jee advanced. Jee mains, now conducted by Nta, is an online examination conducted in multiple shifts to ensure engineering seats in any of the NITs(National Institute of Technology) in our country. Being an unreserved candidate, I will suggest only whatever I do know about the Unreserved selection procedure. From around 13 lakh candidates who appeared for Jee mains, only 2. 45 lakh candidates cleared the cutoff(percentile -a marking criteria decided by Nta without a clear procedure). Of those 2. 45 lakh candidates, around 1 lakh qualify to appear for Jee advanced(an entrance test for admission into IITs). And finally, out of those 1 lakh, around 13000(unreserved) get chance in IITs based on rank, that makes it around the top 1% of the 13 lakh candidates that appeared for Jee mains, making Jee advanced one of the toughest exams in the world based on selection percentage. After that, we fill our choices for our preferred colleges(both IITs and NITs) via Jossa(Joint Seat selection authority). Based on one's rank, seven rounds of counselling are held, with each round presenting a chance of upgradation to a higher placed choice of college, at the end of which, a student is allocated a college in which he may or may not take(if he/she wants to repeat) admission.

Faculty

3.5

In IIT BBS, we have 143 faculties, with each and every faculty holding a Phd degree in their respective fields of expertise. The average age of all professors in our Institute ranges from 30-50 with some senior professors and invitee professors well above 50. They are well proficient in their topics explaining the topics with clarity and time to the students requirement every student desires.

Siksha 'O' Anusandhan University - [SOA], Bachelor of Technology [B.Tech] (Computer Science and Engineering)
Reviewed on Jan 9, 2026(Enrolled 2023)

Course Curriculum Overview:

1. Relevance & Comprehensiveness (Rating: 7/10) The course curriculum at SOA is updated frequently compared to state government colleges. Why I chose this: I was attracted to the fact that the syllabus includes modern electives like Artificial Intelligence, Cloud Computing, and Data Analytics starting from the 3rd year itself, rather than waiting for the final semester. Real-world Prep: The curriculum is designed largely to crack placement interviews. There is a heavy focus on Aptitude and Core Coding subjects (DS/Algo) which helps in getting a job. However, for deep research or R&D roles, the theoretical depth is sometimes lacking. 2. Areas for Improvement Teaching Methods: A major issue is the reliance on PowerPoint Presentations (PPTs). Many faculty members just read off the slides. I would prefer more "Whiteboard Teaching" for mathematical and logic-based subjects. Lab Records: We spend hours handwriting practical records/files which are just copied from the manual. This is a waste of time. This time should be used for live coding projects or hackathons. Outdated Subjects: First-year students (even in CS/IT) are forced to learn heavy mechanical/civil concepts. While basics are good, the depth of these non-core subjects should be reduced. 3. Exam System & Difficulty Frequency: It is quite hectic. We have 2 semesters a year. Each semester has 2 Internal Assessments (Quizzes/Mid-sems) and 1 End-Semester Exam. Basically, you have an exam every 1.5 to 2 months. Difficulty: The exams are Easy to Moderate. It is not very difficult to pass. If you study the "Class Notes" and "Previous Year Questions" for 3-4 days before the exam, you can easily score an 8.0 SGPA. The checking is lenient for passing, but strict if you are aiming for a 9.5+ SGPA.

I actually have a very little idea about placements of our uni few seniors says there is not a single company visiting, while few were discussing the highest placement which was something like 20lpa or something,i think companies do visit our campus it may not be much but i have definetly seen one or two companies visiting. I plan to do MBA after my Btech so i am not that serious about whether i am getting placed or not.

Gandhi Engineering College (GEC Autonomous), Bachelor of Technology [B.Tech] (Computer Science and Engineering)
Reviewed on Dec 22, 2025(Enrolled 2023)

Course Curriculum Overview:

I mainly chose this course because the college is Autonomous, which allows them to update the syllabus faster than standard university colleges; seeing subjects like Python and Data Science in the early semesters really influenced my decision. The curriculum is decent for getting placed in service-based companies like TCS or Wipro since they focus heavily on the basics and aptitude, though for high-end product roles or research, you have to put in extra effort yourself. I definitely think they need to reduce the theory load and focus more on practical coding because sometimes it feels like we are just writing assignments instead of building things. Also, the junior faculty rely too much on reading from slides, which really needs to change to make classes more engaging. As for exams, it feels like we are always writing them since we have two internals and one end-semester exam per term. They are moderately difficult and the checking is strict, so you can't slack off, but the tight schedule can get quite exhausting.
