Remarks

SJCC, ranked number 8 in the all India university ranking, is one of the best institutions to study at.

Course Curriculum Overview

5

The course was a well-rounded mix of BCOM and tourism subjects. The coursework, internals and course structure gave us a broad knowledge of the industry. We were also subject to two internships- one in the hospitality sector after the completion of our first year and in the general sector following our second year. This prepared us to apply for jobs in the finance and tourism fields.

Placement Experience

5

SJCC hosts good companies, including companies from the Big 4, for placements in the final year. The placements incharge follows up with the companies and handles college placements really well. The college also helped students with interview etiquette and building a robust CV prior to the placement interviews

College Events

5

Sjcc has multiple clubs and associations like AICUF, National Service Scheme, Rotaract, etc. It also has a fest team that handles the organisation of intra and inter collegiate events and that participates in technical, cultural and management fests around Bangalore and India. One of the most awaited intercollegiate fests organised by Sjcc is the cultural fest dhwani and the sports fest spiel

Fee Structure And Facilities

For the travel and tourism course, the annual fee was INR55000. The college provides full transparency in the fee breakdown and there is an additional fee to secure admission that is course specific. The college accepts fee payment by means of cash or demand draft (as of 2012-15). Online payment has been started now via the student portal.

Fees and Financial Aid

Yes, the college offers scholarship opportunities to students from low income backgrounds. This is handled by the old students association.

Campus Life

4.5

The gender ratio of boys to girls was 3:1. There were a good number of clubs and associations, extra curricular activities and workshops conducted by these associations that helped the students overall development on a personal and professional front. The college has a zero tolerance policy when it comes to discrimination or harassment of any student on the basis of gender, ethnicity, race, religion, etc.

Alumni/Alumna

The alumni association is very active in sending out intimations regarding events, AGMs and other information related to the college. They also organise annual reunions and provide scholarships to students from low income backgrounds.

Admission

I applied to the course online in the month of March/April 2012 soon after my board exams. The results were announced in May and I was called for an interview when the list came out. The interview consisted of two rounds-one with a member of the faculty and one with the principal.

Faculty

5

The faculty was well qualified to handle the subjects- with post-graduations and doctorates and additional certifications. We also had industry faculty to lecture us on tourism subjects. The faculty was always available to clear our doubts and answer any questions that we had.
