Overall as I mentioned, it is a very comprehensive and diverse course and there is a very varied amount of knowledge that can be learnt here. It is better to take up a professional degree than a simple Bachelor degree.

The course has a variety of subjects, all focusing on shaping up your personality into a perfect human being and also a professional hotelier. There are 4 core departments in the hotel industry namely 1. Front Office ; 2. Food and Beverages ; 3. Housekeeping ; 4. Kitchen. On addition our studies also includes Financial management, safety and security, food science, art, history, geography, Computers, tourism etc. There is additional degree included in it for which there are separate books and separate exams ie, BHM with IGNOU. Which gives you a degree on tourism.

IHM Goa has a high success rate in terms of placements, the top hotels of India and international hotels chain also look up to our Institute. We are given an opportunity to enter a Management Training (MT) program which many big hotel chains are offering to find young managers after which in a short period only you are absorbed into the management team. To enter this MT program there is a competition on all India level again. A series of interviews and many mixed personality tests. For those who are unable to crack an MT there is always an option of entry level position open. Internship program is of a 4 months period, you are open to choose a hotel and location of your choice; it requires you to see and work in all the 4 core departments that a hotel runs on.

Various events if I excluded freshers parties and farewell parties then we hold a 1. Fancy dress competition - which is usually a traditional dress ramp walk. 2. Prom night - on the occasion of valentines day 3. Dance competition - traditional dances western dances, solo, group etc 4. Sports competition - football, volleyball, badminton, futsal, basketball. And more. And now more importantly industry related function are also there such theme lunches and theme dinner, high tea and small functions; where real guests invited and tickets are sold; the food is prepared by our own student chefs, served by students, managed by students and entertained by students.

Fee structure is feasible, since it is a government college fee structure is atleast one third of private hotel management courses. At my time it was approx 80k per annum.(including hostel fees) However it was increased a little the very next year. But still with the increase in facilities the rate also increases.What matters more is the worth of that money.

College does offer various scholarships, but I was not one of them. There are scholarships for underprivileged class.

Gender ratio is one of the best as compared to other fields of studies approximately - 5 : 1. There are students from all across India and in rare cases also from foreign countries like Switzerland and Russia. Our labs are well equipped and sports store has enough to fulfill the needs of the Hostellers.

Yes, I've seen both hostel life and outside life where we rented a house. Hostel has a total of 40 rooms each holding a capacity of three students, 4 common washrooms. And 4 rooms with private washrooms, a volleyball court and a small sized football ground. Plus 2 indoor badminton court.

Yes very much, since it is a small world and there aren't many big hotels so yeah we'll never even know when someone new joining in may be your senior year student Or a junior year student.

Through an All India JEE conducted by NCHMCT once a year. Once you clear that you are called for an interview session, you pass that and proceed to selection of college of your choice, which you acn attend at your states IHM {(nearest to your place) since there are many in India, almost every state has one.} Then depending upon your All India ranking your college Is alloted. Top most being IHM Delhi & IHM Mumbai. IHM Goa was number third. My rank was in the top 1000 thus I was able to attain the third best college.

Our faculty and admin members are all you need for a mentor. They are knowledgeable and industry experienced professors. They all have knowledge of every department as a result it is comfortable for any of them to teach us anything related to the industry. I have a really high regard for all of my College Professors.
