Remarks

Good thing is that VIT has strict policies regarding ragging and drug abuse. The management is a bit strict on girls and boys interaction which students feel unfair. The management is a bit lazy and slow in handling student's issues.

Course Curriculum Overview

4

In my course "computer science and engineering" All the essential courses are covered. We have an elective based learning system where the student can select what CS-related courses they want to take up, and also most of the core courses have a lab and project component, which makes sure that we get practical knowledge. Every course is accompanied by a guest lecture from an industry professional related to that subject. Also, this guest lecture is sometimes replaced with industrial visits. The projects we do while studying for each subject are really helpful during the campus placements.

Placement Experience

5

There is almost 100% placement for students of my course "computer science and engineering". Many companies come for recruitment including Microsoft, Byjus, Udaan, Adobe, math works, hp, l&t, Maruti, etc. The recruitment process is generally. 1. Mcq round 2. Coding round 3. Group discussion 4. Technical round 5. Interview Yes VIT takes a special focus on getting students placed. We have a PAT OFFICE (Placement assistance training) for training the students to ace the students. We also have soft skills courses for students every semester right from the 1st semester to ace the job interviews.

College Events

3.5

We have 2 festivals every academic year. Fall semester : We have a technical fest called "GraVITas". Every year approximately 40000 students participate from all over India and also from around the world. Many hackathons, technical workshops are conducted at the festival. The festival is for 3 days. Winter semester : We have a cultural fest called " Riviera ". Almost 30000-35000 students from all over India participate, we also have international events specifically for international students to participate. We have a concert every night, with top musicians and pop stars. This festival is for 4 days. These fests are really big and can be found by just googling them, the fests are sponsored in crores and have large brand collaborations and many top celebrities of India take part.

Fee Structure And Facilities

I have joined VIT in category 5 due to my poor rank in the exam. So it is expensive for me. The program fee is 500000? for each year. There were no additional charges for getting admission. The modes of payment accepted in my college are check, demand draft, net banking, and RTGS. Yes, the college is fully transparent in fee breakdown, they enable us to take a printout of the break down whenever necessary.

Fees and Financial Aid

Our college offers scholarships only to farmer's families and top 25 rank holders in VITEEE. The rest of the students can avail of special interest loans. VIT has a partnership with " Indian Bank", they offer loans to students of VIT at a lower interest rate. I availed it through my father as I was not 18 by the joining of college. We have to apply for a loan, give collateral documents and in a few days the loan is approved.

Campus Life

5

The gender ratio is very bad. There are very few girls on the campus compared to boys. We have many student clubs and chapters covering all the hobbies and interests of students. We have around 100 clubs ranging from technical to NGO's. We have cultural societies for the majority of the languages. The campus is of diverse people, from high economic status students to low economic status students. There are many foreigners from different countries and they have their own country representatives taking care of them. Indians from all the states can be doing here and all of us are in unity and organize events to showcase their culture. There haven't been any cases of non-binary genders observed here. All of us identify as either male or female.

Hostel Facilities

4

Yes, I have been in the hostel since my joining of college and have been for 3 years. The hostel room size is just sufficient, not too much, not too small. There are different room types 1 bed 2 bed 3 bed 4 bed 6 bed And each room type has an "ac" Or "non-ac" Variant. Every room consists of a bed, cupboard, table, chair, charging point for each person in the room. There is a water kiosk for each floor and each floor has approximately 50 rooms.

Alumni/Alumna

We have an organization called VITAA (VIT Alumni Association). We can reach out to them for any conferences or events. Our alumni regularly come to campus for various events in the form of speakers, sponsors, etc. Our alumni are present all over the world and we connect to them on LinkedIn.

Admission

I got admission into VIT Vellore by giving the VITEEE (Vit engineering entrance exam). I opted for "computer science and engineering" as it was a high paying career field. The factors which made me choose this Institute are: 1. No other option 2. Reputed in the country 3. High placement statistics The steps followed for admission are 1. Complete the 12th boards with at least 75% 2. Get a rank less than 100000 in VITEEE 3. Attend counseling and book a seat in a branch based on the availability of seats. The counseling process takes around June.

Faculty

3.5

Almost every faculty in VIT is a Ph.D. holder and has research experience. We have about 3 hrs of lectures for every course in a week. Most of them are aged around 35-40. The faculties are also continuously trained to meet the current teaching capabilities.
