Remarks

They need to install streetlights till the new hostel building as it does get creepy and we did have few accidents during the night time. They need to change the girls hostel main gate security from old men to really young guy men who can actually run after goons when they harass or catcall the girls.

Course Curriculum Overview

4

It is very basic as it’s just the foundation year going on but it does take a lot of time and energy and patience. The exam structure is like any other design college. We have juries to present our work to and then we have two written papers: communication and design&culture studies.

Placement Experience

4.5

Well I’m just a first year student but the placements and internships given are on a high standard basis. Such as PD seniors have gotten into ISRO, IKEA and many such brand names. It all depends on how good and worthy your design portfolio sums up to.

College Events

5

There are many events that are celebrated in our college like college day, some of the competition for the college day celebration also the national festivals like independence day etc. Even some of the other festivals

Fee Structure And Facilities

Its quite expensive. Our tuition fee is 2 lakh. The hostel for triple sharing is for 70k The mess food card is for 65k which includes breakfast, lunch, high tea and dinner For localites there’s a bus transport by college which ranges from 15k to 30k depending on how far do they live. And apart from this Yes, we designers gave to purchase every little single thing from the stationery which is quite draining on the wallet.

Fees and Financial Aid

I did apply for a scholarship which gives full scholarship to the top 20 or 50 students and takes us out for summer exchange. I have no idea about the Loans or anything. We do have a student loan but I never looked into it.

Campus Life

5

Every month or so we have a football, basketball and badminton competitions. We have girls teams and boys team in every sport. There’s no such gender biases on the ground and in the class room. UID manages to get many high profile personalities to talk about their life and achievements to inspire us. We recently had a YOUTH PARLIAMENT session where many celebrities and politicians had come to attend. They keep getting TEDx speakers and professors from all across the globe. Our campus is open to every student and it’s quite good to see that every one here minds their own business.

Hostel Facilities

4

The hostel infrastructure is pretty good. Just the fact that they don’t allow us to stick much on the wall or do anything is quite frustrating. The rooms aren’t that big but we manage. We have to pay for the AC bill separately. There are many options such as single sharing, double sharing and triple sharing. The intime is pretty late considering all other college around here have the intime around 9:30 or so whereas we have our intime at 11. But if we are even a minute or two late the warden makes us call our parents, then we gotta pay 500 as a fine and write an apology letter to her that we will be careful about time henceforth. Nothing of this sort is applicable for the boys. And that fucking infuriates the hell out of me. At 11:15 the security didi comes in every room to see if all of us are in our rooms or not and if we haven’t signed in the register she calls us down. If we gotta go for night out then mom dad have to mail them, I gotta remove a print, submit it to the warden, then she calls my mom or dad to cross check and then only can I go for night outs. And it’s not allowed if you’ll be late past 11. You won’t be allowed in the hostel even if your parents have given you the permission. We can only stay out the entire night but can’t come in the middle of the night. AGAINST THE BLOODY RULES.

Alumni/Alumna

Before I joined this college I spoke to many seniors and faculties. It did help me in making my mind clear about this college. I wasn’t too sure about shifting to Gujarat but when I learnt that this college is in top 4 for product design and it’s actually great I didn’t hesitate once. The alumni is pretty active. Lots of help from the seniors. There is no bullying as such.

Admission

I gave my entrance before the boards. When the results came out I realised I got in and had to select two dates for my personal text and interview round after the boards. It was not that easy to crack it but I somehow managed to crack i god knows how. I did get in other 4 colleges but product design in this college is in the top 4 list in India so I didn’t wanna sway my chance away.

Faculty

4

The faculty is quite qualified and makes us realise the potential every person has. We have different faculties for different for different departments. The faculty here is not just the lecturers and professors.they quite well vibe in with the student groups and behave more like adult to adult. As in they treat us like we are equivalent and there's no such biased behaviour.

Course Curriculum Overview:

Nid follows a old style curriculum which has its own pros and cons. Here we prefer sticking to the basics in the beginning we believe in building our base rather than rushing. We imply more of practical knowledge rather than theoretical basically we experiment live with our ideas a lot and we are allowed to explore anything that we are interested in
