Ramnarain Ruia College - A way to enhance your future

College authorities are helpful but still they are not approachable at any time. Students Grievances Cell should be made active. Experienced professors will get retired sooner. The new recruits should be capable enough to take their positions for continuing the legacy of explore, experience and excel.

With Autonomous status, college is trying its best to make the curriculum more relevant and research-driven. All students from B.A. Course have to complete 6 semesters. No. of papers vary as per each semester. Each paper in every Semester (100 marks) is evaluated on the basis of External Exam (60 marks 2 hrs), Internal Exam (20 marks 1/2 hr) and Assignment/Project (20 marks). But still it lacks the professional skills required for present market conditions.

The Placement cell of Ruia College arranges various lectures about career planning and opportunities in present market. As our college is not completely Autonomous, internships are not part of Credit system. But Faculty encourage students to do internships which are offered by various firms such as Godrej, Tata, etc.

Utsav Aarohan is benchmark of academic year for Ruiaites. Ruia Students Council (RSC) with a new theme organises various competitions for fine arts to sports. Marathon is also organised in Winters. Special feature of Aarohan is Silent Disco as it represents Ruiaite's voice against Noise pollution. Samnavay is a Inter-Dept festival of Ruia where all depts organise fests with a theme. For eg. History Dept. organises MUDRA festival every year with a theme related to history. Colleges all across Mumbai participate in these fests as these fests are considered as one of the prestigious College fests of Mumbai. Along with this Marathi Literary Association organises a lecture series and G.D. Parekh State Level Elocution Competition where students from all over Maharashtra come and participate.

Feasible fee structure with concession for reserved category students. Fees are paid online on the portal specially designed for payments. No additional fees are required to pay for securing admission. The Fee receipt provide fee-breakdown as decided by the University.

Govt of India and Govt of Maharashtra provides freeships and scholarships to reserved category students on annual basis for which they have to apply through online mode. 3/4th of total fee is received by a student once his application is approved by govt. Ruia Alumni Association takes responsibility of those open category students who can't bear the burden of fees.

Nice and Friendly Campus life as seniors do their best to make juniors adjust in new atmosphere. Gender ratio is satisfactory as there is no majority of one gender in any class. Workshops are organised by various depts which are open to all students from other depts and faculties. As I mentioned earlier RSC takes responsibility to channelize talent of the students through various means. Debates are organised within classrooms. We The People, the student organisation of Political Science Dept organise monthly debate session.

Ruia Alumni Association is helpful and provides financial and moral support to the students. Various seniors guide students regarding career opportunities. To encourage students to achieve something special, Alumni Association started awards such as Jewel of Ruia that are given to alumnus who had achieved great in their respective fields.

With the my career goals, B.A. Course is more suitable. History and Political Science Departments in Ruia have better academic environment. As per University of Mumbai guidelines, first I registered myself with University of Mumbai portal from which I applied for B.A. Course in Ruia College. A student is required to fill up an online form which is made available on College website. With mandatory documents a student has to submit both the registration forms once your name is displayed in merit list.

On an average, Each Dept has 3 professors including a HoD. Most of them have received Doctorates in their respective research areas. Along with curriculum, various departments such as Green House Management Dept, History Dept have started certificate courses to enhance skills among the students. College has begun the process to develop Urban Studies Center. NSS and NCC courses are managed by faculty.
