Entrance Preview

Got admission based on 12th marks. I had done reasonably well and got into Production (Industrial) Engineering.

Course Curriculum Overview

4.5

Curriculum was pretty good. We covered then recent topics such as CAD CAM, FMS, etc. Also core Industrial Engineering courses like Value Engineering and Engineering Economy were quite beneficial.

Internships Opportunities

Only did three months of Summer Internship and it was unpaid. I don't remember anyone in class who got a paid internship back then. The trend definitely has changed for the better now.

Placement Experience

Was satisfactory back then but seems its quite good now. Lots of companies did campus interviews back then too and packages were on the lower end compared to what kids are being offered these days.

Fee Structure And Facilities

Fees for NRIs was $5000 (five thousand US Dollars) per year. No other fees were charged. The hostel was included but room expenses were not too much.

Fees and Financial Aid

No good scholarship / loan facility offered that I know of or availed. Maybe they do so now.

Campus Life

Campus life was good. If you got involved in activities you'd get famous. Generally the atmosphere was quite decent compared to how it is these days (Thank God!). I'm not sure if I'll be sending my children to a hostel based institute in this day and time. All students fared average economically.

Exam Structure

It was pretty chilled out but when it was Mid term or End terms it got really hectic. There was no constant pressure throughout the semester. But you definitely had to keep up if you were to do well in the end.

Faculty

Top faculty. Some like Prof. Atul Anand were brilliant. Some of the lab staff were sub standard but the principal instructors were what one would expect at a premier institute like BIT.

Overall Review of NIT Jamshedpur

Course Curriculum Overview:

The curriculum exam ready for students of mechanical engineering it focuses on industrial level exposure and for other competitive exams like gate and IES with good faculty who teaches almost all concepts. There are labs for each subject in which we get real world application knowledge. Also course is updated regularly as per the requirement of industry . The course can we improved by making course more practical rather than a writing all things on practical it should include project for students. Frequency of exam is that in every 15 days there is a exam with moderate to difficult level.

Placement Experience:

7th Semester students become eligible for placements. The highest package is offered by Rubrik in 2025 of 1.41 CR(domestic) High paying jobs are mostly for SWE/SDE roles. Percentage of students getting placed in CSE/AIML is 75, ECE 69, EEE 60, Mech 58. My plans after gettting degree is to get into job sector only for a while. No such higher education plans as such.

Placement Experience:

At BIT Mesra third is like full of practice for placements and final year more of placements activities than studies. So, when all these things are in order placements obviously will be more or less certain and here they are certain only with almost 90% students are places through campus with annual placements of 8-10 lakhs per annum.

According to my perspective or point of view students initiate preparing for placement cells in 3rd year ( 5th semester). The highest package of our college is 14 LPA And average package is 3.4 LPA. Approx 72 %students got placed in different different companies like tcs, wipro, accenture etc.

A Genuine Review

Placement Experience:

From 5th Semester onwards student are eligible for internship but from 7th semester they are allowed to sit in campus. Various companies like PayPal, Wipro , cognizant ,TCS ,Genpact ,Amdocs etc. Highest Package this year is 35 lpa and Average Package is around 7.5 lpa. Around 90% of students from circuital branch and around 80% students from non-circuital branch has been placed so far this year. My plan is prepare very smartly for campus placements and bag a very good PPO from are tech based company.

Placement Experience:

At BIT Mesra for our departments many cpre companies like Tatva Chintan, Laxmi Organics and Kanoria Chemicals were among some listed companies that came for placements. Luckily we are less in numbers and therefore 90% students from our batch were placed from here. My plans after getting the degree is to pursue masters from US.

I had NIT Raipur Chemical Engg, rejected it because I didn't like the campus amenities of the same, zero sports facilities, they play Football on a Red Soil literally. I got this in CSAB and hence it was a better ranked college than NITRR, i've heard of people opting a lower preferred branch in BITM over a branch in NITRR such the brand value of the college. I scored pretty avg in JEE 58k rank so wasn't eligible for all the clgs anyhow. Admission process is pretty simple JOSSA and CSAB. GPAT score is what taken into account and in 12th 60% or more is mandatory. Also JEE scores are considered but again baby IITs level of score is required and therefore students mostly come through GPAT here....Read More

Actually This college was in my list but as a last option as i was getting RVCE and BMS few reputed colleges of bangalore but my parents insisted for this college as this college carries a good brand name of BIT,Mesra. Yes, Due to my not so good performance in JEE Mains I did not get the college i was hoping for. A student should first appear in JEE Mains and score a good percentile to get in to this college.
