Remarks
The college management was amazing but they should work more towards betterment of students. The student bodies and committee aure slowly being dissolved to bring focus towards studies and lectures but its not a win win situation because the lectures are also not happening properly and student Bodies are dissolved so no extra curricular also
Course Curriculum Overview
As my college comes under Mumbai University, the curriculum was according to that and the exam structure too. We were supposed to study all outdated data from the reference books written 50 years ago. The structure is not at all research driven, and the paper used to have all the questions repeated from previous years papers. I am a better professional because i had actively taken part in extra curricular in my college like the student's council and others. That gave me the confidence to talk to other people. Other than that all i know is from experience and there were seldom any trips arranged for us.
Placement Experience
No company explicity came for biomed in our college. Companies like Citius tech, delloite, Accenture, infosys, Larson and turbo, sapient etc all came in for recruitment for IT profiles. There were no extra steps taken for our placement and the average salary was 20k rupees. About 5% of total students were recruited.
College Events
There were cultural festivals like Trifles and Avalanche with a foot fall of around 1k people out of which 80% were from our college only. Technical and management festivals like Carma Technext also took place but at a very small level of not more than 50 people.
Fee Structure And Facilities
The avg fee was 150000 per year and the course is of 4 years. There was complete transparency of the fee structure and there was no additional charges to secure the admission. All the exam fee was also included in the total fee. The mood of payments were cash or demand draft. They even accepted RTGS.
Fees and Financial Aid
Yes college did have scholarship and fee waiver for various income groups. The eligibility was the father should have income of less than 2lakhs per year. There was a portal on which this cann be applied under the EBC (Economically backward class) and the fee was reduced to half the cost.
Campus Life
The male to female ratio was around 6:4 and there were not many workshops but societies and other things were there. There was no ragging or racism. As there was a 50% quota for Sindhi, the number of sindhi students on the campus was high but it didn't interfere with the quality of students in any way.
Hostel Facilities
There was no hostel services provided by the college. As it is situated in Bandra, the rates of PG or flat were also very high. You can take a flat on rent a little far from college and it may cost around 15k per month including electricity, water supply and other things.
Alumni/Alumna
Yes there is a good alunmi network on my college and it helps us to understand the job prospects and salary structure in the market as there are not many opportunities available.
Admission
I always wanted to do Biomedical Engineering because I was very astonished by the fact that biomedical is a mixture of biology and technology. There are very limited colleges for biomedical engineering in Mumbai. So when i was supposed to fill the form on dte website, i was asked to make a preference list. I wrote the name of Thadomal Shahani at the top because i thought it was better than rest of the colleges in Mumbai.
Faculty
We had about 8-9 professors whi were mostly all holding a masters degree from IIT Bombay and 3 of them were phd. They had good knowledge of the course so they went out of the way to teach us but they were too limited by the extent in our curriculum. They couldn't teach us more than what we had in our textbooks. There were 2 teachers who actually had good ability to make students understand about the topics
