An average semi-government college

The college website needs to be updated on a regular basis and more information to be provided online. Most of the work in our college is offline. As it is a very old college we don't have that experienced set of people working over the computers and hence our technological system runs a bit backdated.

We are currently under the CBCS curriculum. Its totally new so I can't provide a very clear idea of it as I'm in the first batch under this new curriculum. Yet speaking it has got good set of study material but we do get very less time for studying a lot.

Some of the departments provide placements while some provide internships. I haven't yet reached that age to get an internship so I know very little about it. Just sure that I'll be getting an internship as I want from next year with which I'm absolutely satisfied.

Its on an average condition and it also varies from department to department and according to the stream you choose. Being an Hons student I've a bit expensive fee structure which costs me around ?1000 /- per month (excluding the examination fees of the University).

Kanyashree and Merit scholarships are the ones I know about. Both being provided by the Government of West Bengal and has quite strict eligibility criterias. Our college also provides distinct scholarships and lowers the college fees for those students who are meritorious but are from poor backgrounds and not able to afford the fees.

The Constitution of India is followed in our college and equality on the basis of sex, caste, religion, race, etc is followed. There is no distinction between students who are meritorious and who are a bit weak in studies. Its all about how you learn to live in an environment where we all are learning all the time.

Seniors are generally helpful and provide a good support and also information regarding the college systems and working way. They are not those kind of political goons or party workers and as said above we all follow the Constitution of India so there is equality everywhere.

I applied on the college website, then with others I was called for admission according to the merit list given which had my name. I went and they got me admitted as I was ranking within the number of vacancies available. It was quite simple and in an orderly fashion.

It varies from department to department. Some teachers are enthusiastic while some are very unwilling. Some are absolute profeesionals ehich is actually the most suited behaviour towards us at this stage which I can feel.
