Remarks

The college is very very strict.I feel that they could be a bit lenient. But again when I see the discipline in the industry I feel that CAI is right in being strict as its easy for its students to survive in the ever demanding Hotel and Culinary Industry. Thanks to Chef Sudhakar N Rao its my way or high way.

Entrance Preview

I wrote the All India Entrance Examination conducted by CAI and I opted for this college because I wanted to do a Chef Course and not general hotel Management.

Course Curriculum Overview

4.5

Its latest, very global and up to date. No where in the world they teach Molecular Gastronomy, Sous Vide, Three Dimensional Life Size Sculptures and latest presentation styles. CAI's curriculum is always in tune with the latest global trends and the subject Futuristic Foods is not found in any of the colleges world over.

Internships Opportunities

All the leading Hotel Brands offer Internship to the students of Culinary Academy of India. 1)Oberoi's 2) Taj Group 3)Marriotts 4) ITC Hotels5) Ritz Carlton 6) Westin 8) Leela's 9) Trident 10) Lalith.

Placement Experience

4.5

Culinary Academy of India is the only college in India which gives direct international placements to its students. It holds the distinction of being the official training centre for Princess Cruislines USA,P&O Cruises UK and COSTA CruiselInes Italy. Its 100% placements to its students since last fifteen years and the students of Culinary Academy of India bag the highest number of KITCHEN MANAGEMENT TRAINEE POSITIONS offered by various hotel groups.

Fee Structure And Facilities

One thing I would like to state in todays world of commercialisation of education I feel the fee being charged by CAI is nothing. The amount of practical sessions which are held and fee what they collect is very much justified. For a Three Year Program you can the fee would be aorund 93,000/- on an average and for the Post Graduate Diploma in Culinary Arts is around INR 99,000/-

Fees and Financial Aid

All the GOVT. Scholarshp's are offered to the students and also the management had special cash awards for the out standing students. Coming to loan facility the college provides complete support in terms of documentation for students to approach the banks for education loans.

Campus Life

4.5

The Campus life is very rigorous with full time activities be it the regular academics or extra curricular activities. Students do have a lot of in house college functions and also are encouraged to participate in all extra curricular activities. CAI has students not only from India but abroad also. There is a strict discipline code in place and the students are made to understand the importance of this as they have opted to pursue a career in Hotel and Hospitality industry where discipline comes first as in defence services. There is no discrimination in any sense and all the students live in harmony.

Hostel Facilities

4

This is one area I don't have much to say as since two years of its inception CAI only provides Lodging Facility to the students and the students eat outside. The reason the management gives is that most of the students who stay in the hostel have given them written representation in the early years of CAI that they would prefer to eat outside. As the students come from various parts of the country and with different taste buds they don't like the hostel food if served regularly.

Alumni/Alumna

One thing which CAI can boast of is about its Alumni. There is a big net wrok of alumni and Alumni do help the students. The "BACK TO COLLEGE" concept of Alumni conducting the classes through Video Conferencing and Skype is a big hit. This in turn has given the opportunity to the students in college to know their Senior and industry peers better. Most of the time Alumni of CAI keep updating the others about good positions available in the industry and also about the new trends happening in the culinary field.

Exam Structure

The Exam structure is a regular University Model with First year being a year Wise Scheme and the Second & Third years is semester wise. There is an old saying about Culinary Academy of India-if you survive three years in CAI then you can survive anywhere in the world. This is the reason that Hotel, Catering & Culinary Industry in India and Abroad has never experienced CAI chef graduates leaving the industry due to hard work or too much work. The lab sessions are conducted in an industry mode with highest levels of simulation.

Faculty

4.5

The faculty at Culinary academy id the best and internationally travelled. This is the only college where the Chef Director teaches the final year Bachelor's in Catering technology and Culinary Arts students and also the Post Graduate Diploma In Culinary Arts. All the faculty are well versed with their subjects and are highly skilled. Every year the Faculty participates in National Level Culinary Contests and Win Gold medals and compete with the professionals from the Hotels.

Placement Experience:

From 4th sem itself students are eligible for placements. Although students get access to paid internships from their 1st year itself, just they need some effort. But as NIAT is yet new and no batch has passed out yet so we still don't have the exact placement percentage rate. But as we are getting paid internships from 1st year itself so it's very evident that placement would also be good

No batch has graduated yet so there's no record of placement data yet. But more than 200 students got internships. Also the unique point of NIAT is students gets internships from their 1st year itself. NIAT has connection in the industry also its unique teaching style, this allows 1st year students to get internships. Although there is no pass out batch yet, still many people got placed in good companies.

Course Curriculum Overview:

My college course curriculum is outdated .As im studying in computer science and engineering,i wpuld love to study about technological aspects and grow as a software engineering but in the course curriculam they teach my about mechanical workshops,There were no practical experience it jsut understanding the concept with theoritical part . i would love lo code but my college wastes entire time by helping with electricals, meachanical basics. i dont think is it really necessary for me understand in all the feilds they think that student should perform in all the fields as im in computer science and engineering student ,They should teach me more about coding and computer ,how it industries works and how these technology enhacning ,the arenot even explore about all these sectos they only teaching me about fundametals of all the subjects which is never useful for my studies . as i am in final year of btech i thought learning and deepdiving into computerscience and engineering subjects is more greater than learning all sector fundamentals,The area they need to improve is removing some of the oudated syllabus from their ciricullum and enhcing with the pratical experience not to teach only theoritical part. they have to teach all the areas with realtime examples. The timings of exams is very good .we do have 2 mid exams and one semester final exams for each sem and the subjects feels meduim level difficulty

Students become eligible for campus placements after their 6th semester. The companies start visiting in 7th and 8th semesters. The companies are not much good and are mostly service based. So the placement statistics are also not much good. The highest placement last year was 10 lpa and the median placement was around 4.1 lpa. The placements were starting from 2.5 lpa. The better option for students is to apply for off-campus placements or start preparing for competitive exams
