Remarks

There are two drawbacks of MZU 1) Location- as it is 9 km from Aizawl city. 2) Food - as rice is a widely eaten in North East, roti, dosa is hardly found.

Course Curriculum Overview

3

The campus is quite vast just like any other Central University. The curriculum which is followed is as per COA (Council of Architecture) guidelines. The curriculum is up to date. The Architecture building is a new one with. The infrastructure includes spacious airy classrooms and studios, computer lab, construction yard, academic and seminar complex, OAT (open Air Theatre), jury rooms, material gallery, department library.

Placement Experience

1.5

Usually in any Architecture college, private or government aided placements do not take place though there few exceptions. Mizoram University is a central University with NAAC grading of 'A'. Though the faculties here have contacts with firms across metro cities of the country.

College Events

3

Every semester the department conducts site visit for students to gain construction knowledge by taking them to see some of the iconic buildings of Aizawl and Mizoram. Many workshops are also conducted every Semester in which Architects from different states are called. Some state govt-funded workshop also takes place. Festivals such as Diwali, Christmas are celebrated with great pomp. University festivals known as 'MZU virthli' takes place in the month of April every year.

Fee Structure And Facilities

As this is a central Government University, fees is very low as compared to other Architectural colleges. Per semester fees is around 30,000 including hostel fees for six months and monthly mess fee of 2000. Students from North East can opt for scholarships which granted to them by their respective states.

Fees and Financial Aid

No, I havent opted for any scholarships. As stated above scholarships are available for SC/ST students. Students from North East can opt for their respective state scholarships. The scholarship amount is credited to their respective accounts once they fill an online form on govt websites.

Campus Life

2.5

The entire campus of MZU is very vast and its fun to interact with students from different departments. Events, seminars, workshops take place at University Auditorium, there is one multi-purpose hall where indoor sports activity takes place. One football field is built up. The gender ratio is almost equal. Students hang out at MZu park, Rendevous park, uncle's cafe, canteens etc.

Alumni/Alumna

Seniors are extremely helpful and polite in the Architecture department. Interaction with seniors takes place also after college hours as most of them reside in hostels.

Admission:

One need to have 50% aggregate marks in 10+2 with Mathematics and the next is to apply for the college entrance test NATA via college official website. The payment of the form is made online which is 700 for one form. Cracking the entrance test allows a student to apply for this B.ARCH course in the university.

Remarks:

The only drawback of MZU is its location. It is situated 9kms from the Capital city of Aizawl. Second is the food which is provided in the hostel mess. As mostly this university is dominated by north east students rice is commonly served here.
