Remarks

Vit is good for me and that's it, the college life is bad, we might get a good education but rampant sexism and nothing we can do about it. If anyone tries to speak up against the admins we will be kicked out.

Course Curriculum Overview

4

The course curriculum is very relevant for mechanical engineering, especially for energy students as it is an upcoming industry today. It is regularly updated. Almost every course has an optional industry visit. They always teach us industry-relevant things, placements for mech isn't that great.

Placement Experience

2

VIT boasts high placements but most of them are boring IT jobs. The placements for mechanical are there but the quality is not good. We are required to do an industrial internship. If we wish to do an internship in the last semester the college does provide some help.

College Events

0.5

There are 2 big events gravitas and riviera. Gravitas is the technical fest that sees a lot of technical competitions, workshops, events, talks, etc. It goes on for 3 days, but workshops start 3-4 weeks earlier. Riviera is one of the biggest cultural fests in India it has pro shows, many events, and fun activities for everyone.

Fee Structure And Facilities

The fee depends on your rank in the entrance exam, there are 5 categories, category 1 being the cheapest. Category 5 is expensive, the better hostel rooms the more expensive they are. Fee transparency isn't there at all. VIT is a money-making machine and that's all they care about.

Fees and Financial Aid

I did not opt for a scholarship, no scholarship exists from the college side, they do inform us about some scholarships available from 3rd parties

Campus Life

3.5

Campus Life is extremely bad, the people that attend this college are extremely backward racist, sexist people. There are no parties and no fun in VIT due to the Administration. If you are sitting with a girl you will get whistled at by PDA guards. There is some diversity but no Indians interact with foreign students as the college is made like this, the Chinese and Africans are put in different hostels and different classes we have almost no interactions with them. Social life is 0. The administration is extremely bad and thinks that talking to girls is bad. The gender ratio is very bad about 20:1. In some mechanical classes no girls at all. In my course out of 120 people maybe 5 girls

Hostel Facilities

1.5

There are many hostel rooms, they are pretty strict inside with an intime of 9:30 for boys and 8:30 for girls. The rules are extremely sexist the hostel wardens are always moral policing the girls. The girls have to live in agony. If you want to leave the hostel for a few nights you need permission from your parents even if you're a married 25-year-old master's student.

Alumni/Alumna

Seniors are very helpful. They help with studies and almost anything you need. Never had any experience with alumni

Admission

Got the admission by writing the entrance exam in the months of April may, after your rank comes out you have to go to one of the campuses for counseling to select your course and rooms. After that, your admission is confirmed and in the next few weeks can complete the documentation required.

Faculty

2.5

Some professors are really bad and in fact, I know more than them in some courses. But we do have lecturers who are really good have an up to date industry-relevant knowledge, some of them are doing research work of their own. They help us if we would like to do any research.

Placement Experience:

Students can join job drives from the 7th term. Many firms visit the campus for jobs and offer roles in tech and other fields. The pay varies by firm and role. EEC has a good job rate and gives help for job prep. After my degree, I plan to work in the tech field and grow my skills.

Placement Experience:

Students are open to campus placements from 2nd year onwards. There are many companies who visit such as Delloite, Accenture, Cognizant, TCS, Amazon, NatWest, Nokia, etc. Highest package offered is 42 lpa and lowest is maybe 2-4lpa. Around 90% of students get placed here. My plans is to get a job through campus recruitment. Currently I got an internship through campus recruitment in Cognizant so the recruitment is quite nice here.

Placement Experience:

One thing I really need to appreciate at CIT is its placement training program. The placement team conducts regular sessions on 1. aptitude 2. coding 3. communication skills 4. group discussions and 5. interview preparation which helped me feel more confident during placements. The trainers were friendly and always encouraged us to improve our skills step by step. They provide continuous guidance and feedback throughout the training process. Mock interviews and one to one assessments helped me to understand my strength and weak areas and I work on improvements . These sessions not only improved my technical and communication skills but also boosted my confidence . The placement training team played an important role in preparing me for career opportunities and industry expectation

Placement Experience:

Chennai Institute of Technology is an instituition that truly prioritizes student career growth . The placement cell is exceptionallu well-organized ,consistently connecting students with reputed companies across various industries. What makes CIT stood out is the quality of its training staff. They focus heavily on communication , technical knowledge and competitive preparation ,align students with what top companies expect ,and contiuosly push us to improve and meet industry standards. Their structured training helped me to clearly identify my strengths and work on my weak areas, which made a huge difference during interviews and boosted my overall confidence. The department faculty are equally commnedable ,knowledgable ,approachable and genuinely invested in student career. Overall CIT is an excellent choice for anyone focused on building a strong and sucessful career
