DIAT-DRDO, DU

If DIAT can provide placements, this is one area where DIAT lacks. Other than this DIAT is a college that is comparable to the IITs, better than NITs for post-graduation courses for sure. Since this college is regarded as one of the DRDO colleges, it provides very good opportunities for research.

Course curriculum was Physics oriented as M.Tech in Sensor Technology falls under Department of Physics. Being from an engineering background, I was looking forward to learn more about engineering however things turned out to be different. From the research point of view, DIAT is the perfect platform, thanks to its tie-up with all the major institutions across India and access to all the DRDO Labs. However, DIAT gives more preference to research in defence areas.

Placements is rare considering now every PSU absorbs thourough GATE. Job opportunities in the outside world can be challenging as the course being provided by DIAT is more into defence applications. Like, Masters in Sensor Technology can only be obtained from DIAT across India. We got stipend from AICTE i.e 12400 per month, for the entire M. Tech course.

There were many events being celebrated in our college. Republic Day and Independence Day are the events which cannot be missed. Since it is a defence college and their were service officers studying in the college the events had that grandeur feeling. Apart from that each and every festival were celebrated irrespective of religious beliefs.

Fee structure was feasible only as one could easily pay from the scholarship which one was receiving. Per Semester Fees was ?15, 000. Apart from that hostel fees was to be paid if you want hostel accommodation.

A friend of mine took loan from a bank. I don’t have much detail into this, so I would not prefer to day here. If I get an opportunity to connect with him again, maybe I can provide more details regarding the same.

Labs and sports were good. There was no bias based on religion or race. Political involvement was not in this college as this college was a defence college and defence personnel has no role to play in politics. Workshops and international seminars were frequently organised which we all benefitted from.

Hostel Infrastructure was too good keeping in mind it was built to accommodate service officers. Mess services was okay and hygienic. The hostel accommodation was roughly 40000 per semester which is inclusive of food and stay.

College seniors were good but DIAT still lacks on the connections with the alumnus. If this connection gap could be filled, it can really help the college from the placement point of view. Placements is something this college doesn’t has.

DIAT (Defence Institute of Advanced Technology) is an autonomous organisation under Department of Defence Research & Development, Ministry of Defence, Govt. of India. MhourD, Government of India has placed DIAT (DU) in Category 'A' Deemed University & 'NAAC' and NBA Accredited.

Faculty was okay. Faculty-Student relationship was something I still cherish about. There were very few guest faculties which a benefit when it comes to access faculties. Moreover it is an homely environment and doesn’t feels like a college.
