Remarks
There are combined of positive and negative remarks. Bad being the part of 80% mandatory attendance which stops us even if we want to explore the world outside or intern for a longer time. Also the part where we need permission everytime we want to go out of the campus. Good being that the surrounding is green, clean and lively all the time. I know the people around. Also the academics are good.
Course Curriculum Overview
I feel that the course curriculum is perfect covering important aspects of Management as well as Engineering thus developing you into a perfect techno-Manager. There isn't much focus on research but currently there is quite a lot emphasis on entrepreneurship. The course is also hectic with minimum of 80% attendance criteria.
Placement Experience
Placements have been going down compared to previous years. We need to have 2 official internships, of which college helps us get the management internship but for technical ones we are all to ourselves. The stipend for management internship ranges from 10k-25k per month. There are some exceptions like Barclays which offers a stipend of 75k per month. Placement average package is around 10 lakhs
College Events
One of the best events if college is Youth speak Forum which is powered by AIESEC and stating of AIESEC, it's the best thing that can happen to someone in their college. It's the best thing in entire campus. There are other events like NMMUN for MUNning enthusiasts. Annual cultural fest, Protsahan, technical fest Ambiora, sports fest Flavium and we also have TedX NMIMS Shirpur.
Fee Structure And Facilities
It's expensive compared to government universities. Its around 3 lakhs per annum for initial 3 years and 4 lakhs per annum for last 2 years excluding the living expenses. The last 2 years happen in Mumbai so the living expense increase drastically.
Fees and Financial Aid
Some of my friends have took loans nationalized and corporate banks. The college on its part does not offer any scholarships or exemptions from fees. If you want you can try for loans from a number of banks out there.
Campus Life
Talking of extra curricular activities, the best is AIESEC, I've been a part of this for 2 years, also been to Vietnam for 6 weeks thourough it and it was totally a life changing and evolving experience. For dance enthusiasts we have dance groups DanceDukes and BeatLockers in our college. We also have Drama Society, Debate Society. Apart from there there is some event going thouroughout the year so it's always good to be part of the organizing committee. Sports facilities are also pretty fine here.
Hostel Facilities
Hostel Facilities are pretty good compared to other hostels in India, you can call it a 5 star jail, I say jail because you are not allowed to leave the campus without permission. But also the hostel has pretty much all basic amenities like football field, tennis court, volleyball court, a small cinema hall.
Alumni/Alumna
No, there's no such active alumni network that we have. Also the seniors that I know are mostly thourough organizing committees, sports, or AIESEC. They are all friendly and helpful most of the time. Also initially senior junior interaction is strictly prohibited.
Admission
I got admission thourough NPAT exams, which is an entrance exam conducted by the the University (NMIMS). Post that there was a merit list and counselling sessions accordingly held in Mumbai. I chose this course as it offers an integrated MBA + BTech degree which is a unique one, also the name of NMIMS matters. I chose Shirpur campus as It offers a campus life on the other part mumbai option does not has a campus.
Faculty
Some of the faculties are quite experienced but some are just so-so, meaning that if asked something from out of the syllabus they can't answer it. Some tend to emphasise on research and studies but some are just doing their job.
