Remarks

It is highly strict. They have imposed several rules on us. The in-time is extremely early i.e. 8:30 PM for girls and 9:30 for boys. Also, there are several PDA guards around the campus who make talking to the opposite gender feel like a crime.

Course Curriculum Overview

3.5

In VIT, all the courses are divided into 4 types i.e. Program Core, Program Elective, University Core, University Elective. Any core subject is a mandatory subject. However, electives can be taken up according to your interests. VIT allows for a flexible credit system so you can advance your skills in your preferred domain of interest. There are 3 examinations per semester, CAT-1, CAT-2, and FAT. CAT-2 is often an open book examination and is entirely application based. The project component involves the student to think out of the box and deepen their learning on the subject and are hence helpful in placements. Industrial visits are also organized by the faculties.

Placement Experience

4.5

A lot of companies visit the college throughout the year. In VIT, placements have been divided into a super dream, dream, and regular. Super dream companies are those who offer 10+ lakhs, dream offers are those who offer 5+ lakhs and regular companies are similar to mass recruiters. Companies like Cisco, Microsoft, Amazon, Oracle come in for placements. The students have to sign up for Placement Training and they are equipped with the necessary skills for placements. Moreover, mock interviews are conducted by the faculties of a special soft skills course. The tentative percentage of students placed every year is 70%.

College Events

4

There are two college fests each year- GraVITas and Riviera which are celebrated on a large scale in college. GraVITas is the technical fest whilst Riviera is the cultural fest. Not only the college students but we do see external participants coming in too. They are both 4 days long. GraVITas happens in October and Riviera happens in February. The number of participants seen are 10,000. Also, for Riviera, we see foreign participants coming in too.

Fees and Financial Aid

There is a facility known as 'star students' where their education and accommodation is free, they are the students who are state toppers. Also, there is a fee waiver for the first 1000 ranks in the VITEEE examination.

Campus Life

4.5

The gender ratio is not so bad in CSE at least. In branches like Mechanical, there is quite a difference as you will find 1 or 2 girls and 58-59 boys in a class. VIT is known to be a mini India as there are people here from almost every state. There are several clubs and chapters that the student can be a part of from NGOs to technical clubs to cultural clubs to literary clubs. There are several facilities and opportunities here.

Hostel Facilities

3.5

Yes, I have. A student of VIT is not allowed to stay outside unless their parents are staying with them. Girls have 6 blocks available of which one is Non-AC. The rooms available are 1 bedded, 2 bedded, 4 bedded and 6 bedded. There are no attached washrooms. There are bunk beds in the room and each student gets their own wardrobe, table, and chair. There is also a laundry service available.

Alumni/Alumna

You get to interact with seniors when you join clubs and chapters and they are extremely helpful. They guide you through your college life from assistance in projects to which faculty to choose to whose notes to study from.

Admission

The VITEEE (pronounced "witty") examination takes place a few days after the JEE Mains examination. VIT University sends a booklet to your address with some sample questions of the VITEEE examination. It involves MCQ from Math, Physics, Chemistry, and also 5 questions of English. It involves the application of simple formulae and is very easy as compared to JEE Mains. The admission process is based upon the ranks you get in the VITEEE examination. Each branch consists of 5 categories which have different fee structure. The seats start filling up rank wise during the counseling in all 4 branches of the University- Vellore, Chennai, Bhopal, and Amaravati.

Faculty

3.5

You are allowed to choose your own faculties. The average age of the faculties is 35. The qualification is to have a Ph.D. and a research paper published under your name. There are some brilliant faculties in VIT who will really help you research the subject and write a paper on the same. Research papers are highly encouraged here. They also organize industrial visits.

Students can join job drives from the 7th term. Many firms visit the campus for jobs and offer roles in tech and other fields. The pay varies by firm and role. EEC has a good job rate and gives help for job prep. After my degree, I plan to work in the tech field and grow my skills.

Students are open to campus placements from 2nd year onwards. There are many companies who visit such as Delloite, Accenture, Cognizant, TCS, Amazon, NatWest, Nokia, etc. Highest package offered is 42 lpa and lowest is maybe 2-4lpa. Around 90% of students get placed here. My plans is to get a job through campus recruitment. Currently I got an internship through campus recruitment in Cognizant so the recruitment is quite nice here.

Placement Experience:

One thing I really need to appreciate at CIT is its placement training program. The placement team conducts regular sessions on 1. aptitude 2. coding 3. communication skills 4. group discussions and 5. interview preparation which helped me feel more confident during placements. The trainers were friendly and always encouraged us to improve our skills step by step. They provide continuous guidance and feedback throughout the training process. Mock interviews and one to one assessments helped me to understand my strength and weak areas and I work on improvements . These sessions not only improved my technical and communication skills but also boosted my confidence . The placement training team played an important role in preparing me for career opportunities and industry expectation

Chennai Institute of Technology is an instituition that truly prioritizes student career growth . The placement cell is exceptionallu well-organized ,consistently connecting students with reputed companies across various industries. What makes CIT stood out is the quality of its training staff. They focus heavily on communication , technical knowledge and competitive preparation ,align students with what top companies expect ,and contiuosly push us to improve and meet industry standards. Their structured training helped me to clearly identify my strengths and work on my weak areas, which made a huge difference during interviews and boosted my overall confidence. The department faculty are equally commnedable ,knowledgable ,approachable and genuinely invested in student career. Overall CIT is an excellent choice for anyone focused on building a strong and sucessful career
