Remarks
Overall college is great in every area but one major con for Delhi Students is the distance as one has to go by Eeco or Roadways which is not at all comfortable. Another major downside is that they require a gate pass for leaving the campus before the time which makes it more of a school rather than college. Also, there are no major hangout places nearby & only options available are Crashing weddings & exploring Dhabas.
Course Curriculum Overview
The knowledge imparted here is up to the standards though obviously according to the old syllabus that is being followed in every other college as a standard Engg curriculum. The curriculum is helpful in placements to some extent as it covers the core subjects but you have to work on your skills in order to be placed. Major Con here is that Kurukshetra University takes atleast 6-8 months for processing the result & sometimes even passing is a tedious task in itself. So, maintaining a good track record takes some effort. Industrial visits are organized for other branches not for CS or IT as far as I know.
Placement Experience
Amazon, SAP, Capgemini, TCS, HCL, and many more companies visited the campus. The process consists of atleast 3 steps i.e. Aptitude or Coding Test, GD, Interview but are different for every company. Also, college scheduled Aptitude & Tech Aptitude classes for the same purpose.
College Events
PIET organizes two fests, one being Freshers & other being its Annual Cultural Fest: Maestros. The budget is good and stars like Honey Singh, Hardy Sandhu, B Praak have been featured before. Various Technical, Non-Technical & Formal events are organized for students. One major setback is that they charge major entry fees (Rs 800 this time) to its fest as they don't get many sponsors. So this is why most students don't come.
Fee Structure And Facilities
Overall the fees is feasible though it offers great scholarship features as well like mentioned earlier. For SC/ST students, fees are almost 30% of what it is for normal students. Mode of payment is flexible, be it net transfer, cash or Paytm, they accept all types of transfer. Transparency is to an extent only as they provide fee receipt but not much detail is provided.
Fees and Financial Aid
Various scholarships are available, be it a percentage, Jee Score, any Sports medal or any position like School Captain (for which I am getting 15% tuition fee waiver). This is a good aspect which is not usually offered in every other college.
Campus Life
Gender ratio is good, approx 2:1 (Males: Females). The major crowd is from Haryana & Delhi so if you are from these cities then definitely you will feel like home. Students from various Ethnicities are here like Assamese, Nepal, etc. So you will enjoy a bit of diverse culture here. Ragging & Bullying are prohibited here though it happens sometimes college takes care of it as well.
Alumni/Alumna
The Alumni network is decent and every year a reunion type of event is organized for them as well. Before joining this college,I contacted one of them and the response was quite positive.
Admission
Like any other CS enthusiast,I was also interested in this stream from school time & wanted to explore it in-depth, hence chose this course. After visiting a few colleges, this college offered the best placement record which is a major factor. also the campus is good not the best but has sufficient amenities for the students. The admission process starts in June-July and can be direct from percentage criteria (65%) or Jee Score whichever is higher though it takes students even if they have supplements also (12th Reappear) but admits them once they clear them first. One good thing is that they provide a scholarship in every aspect, be it any sports achievement, jee score or even School Captain (I got 15% Tuition fee waiver)
Faculty
A total number of lectures in a day is 7 with one break each having duration of 55 min. College begins at 9:05AM & ends at 4:25PM.Teachers are fairly young, around 30s mostly having good experience and certifications and even one is from IIT as well. Also, most teachers are able to effectively communicate the subject knowledge for better understanding.
