Remarks

The campus being temporary at present, is in a much happier place surrounded by all kinds of restaurants, food corners, necessary shops, good hospitals, banks etc. The negative may be the lack of space in most classrooms, however that turns good as the faculties focus better on each & *** CGPA turns out better***

Course Curriculum Overview

4.5

The course curriculum as per applicable for the students at present is truly amazing. It not only focuses on the theorical point of view for a student, but also takes care of Industrial needs expected from an emerging engineer. The class schedule is such that it generally doesn't overload a student, at the same time, provides sufficient time for every course and lab. CSE students are most relaxed when talking of schedule.

Placement Experience

4

Placements and job opportunities are no less for an Institute working efficiently from its temporary campus. It also provides internship opportunities mainly for 3rd year students. Jobs are offered by companies like L&T, GAP, MATLAB, Infosys, Byju's, OnePlus, etc.

College Events

4.5

The Technical fest and Cultural fest are the largest fests organised in the entire state. Both are gala events having interesting and enjoyable events and competitions. The Tech fest mostly has robotics and departmental events till evening, while after that are singing, dancing competitions and the official freshers. The Cultural fest, on the other hand, has numerous events till the evening. There are celebrity performance, dj night timings reserved for the rest of the evening.

Fee Structure And Facilities

Fee structure is definitely feasible as compared to other NITs and IITs. Besides the Institute does provide what they ensure in the fee structure. Tuition fees for B. Tech students is Rs 62500, and other institutional fees are Rs 7500. The hostellers pay another Rs 24000 for hostels and mess, which is later adjusted according to holidays, etc.

Fees and Financial Aid

Students with poor financial status can avail scholarships offered by the Institute and MORE on showing proper documents. Family income below 5 lakhs have fee remittance of 2/3rd waiver, while those below 1 lakh have full waiver. Other than that, one can avail ST, SC scholarships and so on. Students also take education loan.

Campus Life

3.5

Gender ratio definitely exists being an engg Institute, with exception in ECE branch. While students from every corner of the country and abroad study here at NIT Meghalaya. Parties in hostels, workshops, and all others aspects for a suitable studying as enjoying atmosphere can be found at ease. Different clubs organize different workshops, competitions, etc for students.

Hostel Facilities

3.5

I stay at home since the temporary campus is nearby. However my visit to the hostels was not bad at all. Students either share a sufficiently big room with one student Or may stay in a single room alaon. The hostels comprise of basic necessities and slightly more with clean surroundings. Purified drinking water, WiFi, geyser, etc are available.

Alumni/Alumna

Seniors here who really have some knowledge or experience, need to be digged out as they keep themselves lowkey. These people are tremendously helpful in every possible way. A quarter of people are also very outspoken about everything. A person who talks about his qualities in front of juniors, has got nothing for real, he only brags. Carefully need to figure out the good ones.

Admission

I was admitted into NIT Meghalaya, as usual, through JOSAA counselling. To be eligible to get admission into an NIT, one basically needs to qualify the JEE Mains, and with decent marks. Likewise was my case. My passion drove me towards CSE branch and course. Opting NIT Meghalaya was my decision after a few conversations about course, job opportunities, campus life, etc with the alumni of this Institute and the students then studying in it. They brought to light all the pros and cons of being a student of this Institute. However the pros were overpowered by the cons. Every information about the Institute brought a positive aspect, even that about it operating from temporary campus.

Faculty

4

Most of the faculties are capable enough of bringing their point and knowledge to the forefront, for us to grab easily. Their style of teaching is commendable as most of them are qualified from abroad or from India with great experience. However, even the Moon isn't spotless and flawless. There are a few faculties who are hard nut to crack and very difficult to understand their teaching.
