Remarks

IGIT is lou. IGIT always gets beautiful and iconic sunrise and sunsets. The campus has well connected road network, well lit, clean and green, scenic. We have a campus area of 179 acres. IGIT is located just beside the NH 53. IGIT's situated in between a mountain and alongside Brahmani river. It lies in the outskirts of Dhenkanal district. The nearest city is Talcher, Angul which is 12 km away.

Course Curriculum Overview

3.5

The course structure is the same as that of IITs and IGIT is among the premier technical institutions and among the top 3 govt colleges. Facilities are well and good still development is required for the new branches. And some repairs in the existing ones. Exams per sem: 2 internal, viva, practical, semester. 100 marks theory paper(sem exam), internal 50(compromises of attendance, viva, practical etc. )

Placement Experience

2.5

The placement was mostly for IT companies and less of core sector. Only core company to have visited the college was TATA BSL and other IT companies like Infosys, TCS, Wipro, Cognizant, Karo education( we had to go for off-campus placement drives) whiwle other small emerging IT companies and management companies like Amazon and Jaro education visited the campus

College Events

3

Horizon is the annual techno-cultural fest of IGIT. Alongside this Utsahan is the annual sports fest, various branch fests including Welcome, various Branch fests, farewells, puja occasions are celebrated in campus hostels and institute.

Fee Structure And Facilities

Feasible. One can complete his BTech career in a total expenditure of max ? 3. 5 - 4 lakhs including tutions fees (? 31,100), hostel fees(? 40000 for 2 sems) except for CSE & ETC branch whose tution fee is ? 62000 per year

Loan/ Scholarship Provisions

Scholarship like Medhabruti, Prerna is availed by students. Also there is 6 TFW seats for branch having 120 strength(total 126 seats) and 3 TFW(Tution fee waiver scheme) seats for branches having 60seats (total 63)

Campus Life

4.5

Girls ratio is higher as compared to other colleges, workshops are held time to time, students of all religion live here peacefully in harmony, less politics, Orientation program is carried out for a week for the freshers, there is no discrimination on the basis of caste, creed, colour, religion, currently the institute is funded by the TEQIP-III program of UGC, MHRD for the overall development of infrastructure and overall development works of the campus.

Hostel Facilities

4.5

Hostel facilities are available on merit basis. the hostel is well maintained and good infrastructure. In total we have 5 boys 2 girls Hostel to accommodate about 3000- 4000 students. Well maintained. IGIT's best hostel is Bhaskar Bhawan(3rd year Boys) which was then designed by the best architect of India. The most sexiest part is its structure which is in the form of gear. Facilities like washing machines, geyser available for the senior hostels which will now also be available to juniors and all remaining 3 hostels within due time period.

Alumni/Alumna

Alumni meets needs to be held more frequently. There's no ragging and my personal experience is very good with seniors. they are very helpful and suppotive. Have made many memories with them. it's very simple: If we treat them like elder brother they also treat us like younger brother even like a friend. There's a great senior-junior relationship.

Admission

I appeared for the JEE Mains exam. And then we enrolled ourselves to OJEE with the JEE registration/roll number for BTech admissions in state govt colleges. But now IGIT is an autonomous institution under UGC, MHRD, Government of India. One does choice filling for his/her admission to respective branches. After temporary and final allocation of seat, i went to the college for admissions.

Faculty

3.5

Needs more experienced faculties! To be true the quality of technical education in India is very low. We are more of being designed to be service providers rather than product development. Mostly the new faculty members who join, have specialization in some other paper and have to teach some other paper because of absence of related faculty. So basically here bothe teacher and student and reading the subject for 1st time.

Placement Experience:

From the start of the 7th semester, students become eligible for placements. The placement used to be so good and the graph was increasing exponentially. But for to recession, last year's placements were not good at all. There was almost 100% placement in CSE, IT and CE branches and 80% in ETC and EEE. But due to the recession, it dropped drastically. The highest package provided on campus is 39LPA by media.net, taking only one student. The average salary used to be 12LPA which dropped to 7LPA due to the recession. The condition of placement cells is not good currently and many students are in doubt regarding their placements. Many are opting for higher studies or trying off campus.

Placement Experience:

The placement scenario is good. Even I am placed in a reputed core company. Majority of the students get placed. The remaining also prepares for higher studies through GATE and CAT. Being in the capital city, the advantage of access to reputed coaching institutes also makes the college favourable. Students are eligible to sit in the placements in the final year. Though some third-year students also get pre-placement offers after doing certain internships. Maruti Suzuki, Tata Steel, Vedanta, Tata Advanced Systems, TCS (Digital and Ninja), Infosys, Cognizant, Accenture, JK papers, Robert Bosch etc are some of the highlights.
