Chandernagore Government College

The college is located at the Chandernagore Strand road which is the most famous area in the town of Chandernagore, Hooghly. There is nice French Museum just next to the college. The Ganges is the most beautiful there. There are only a road and beautiful strand between the Ganges and our college. The area is very much free from pollution.

Chandernagore Government College follows the course curriculum designed by the University of Burdwan.We usually had two exams in an academic year.Our test exam was held in December or January and the final exam was held in March or April.

The Chandernagore Government College is a degree college in the district of Hooghly, West Bengal.It doesn't guarantee anyone of any placement or job opportunity.But the college did arranged a placement program in 2014.Some local companies of West Bengal and some National companies came to that event.

Events we celebrated in the college were the Saraswati Puja.The Puja is celebrated every year in the college pompously and with all fervour. The college and the respective departments of the college arrange for Freshers. We have an annual cultural programme in the college in the cooler months of January or February.

The college is one of the best government colleges in West Bengal.It is not that expensive.We have to pay only the tuition fee which was Rs 75 per subject per month.The fees was collected twice in an academic year.Except that, we have to bear the University registration and examination fee.

Chandernagore Government College did not give any scholarship.The college give some rebate in fees and in some cases a total rebate in fees to its needy students.The students can avail the scholarship offered by the State Government, the Union Government and many other agencies.Chandernagore Government College helps the students very much to avail of these scholarships.I got the State Government scholarship.

Gender ratio is very good.In our department of English Literature, there were more girls than boys and so was the case some other departments too. There was a common room for the students.Arrangement of indoor games are there. The college has a hall where film is shown, presentations are presented. Political atmosphere in the college campus was very good and healthy.

No.I haven't opted for a hostel.The college doesn't have a hostel of its own.The students of the college come mostly from nearby areas and adjoining districts and they did not require a hostel in the college.

In the Chandernagore Government College we had a very supportive seniors.The seniors were very helpful.We never felt the gap of senior and junior.We really cherished the moments together. We even gossiped with the seniors at times.

I like literature.English Literature is one of the best literatures.First, I visited the website of the college and filled up a form.Then I was selected on basis of marks obtained in 10+2 level.The selected candidates were called for a counselling.After the counselling, some of the selected candidates were admitted to the Chandernagore Government College.

The faculty of the college were highly qualified and experienced.They were mostly appointed by PSC WB.Some of our teachers had formerly served in Presidency college and other government colleges in West Bengal.The faculty was very energetic and helpful.
