Life at NIFTEM

Every college has some positives points and some negative points. I would say that this college and helped me in improving my personality and made me a better person. During my college life I have learned various things and have acquired numerous skills which will definitively help me in the future.

It's same aa every engineering college and thus have 8 semesters consisting of 40% internals and 60%externals which are usually refereed as mid sem and end term examinations. Each term has an average of 7 subjects and 3-4 lab periods which gives a subtotal of 20-25 credits. It's 9:30-5:50 classes, and thus is hectic in 1st and 2nd year, but after 2nd yaer no. Of subject decreases and focus on research activities increases.

The CRD department takes care of internship and placements in the college with likes of Mondelez, ITC, Nestle and many other food companies visiting the campus during the semester conducting various recruitment drives. Average stipend ranges from 5000-8000/month with fee company offering as high as 22000/month. Average package is around 4-4. 5 lacs CTC with highest package of around 8lacs.

There are various societies in the college which comes under Student Activity Council that conduct various events throughout the year. Main event being the cultural fest-EDESIA , sports fest-NSL and e summit conducted by CED. Edesia is a 3 day event with around 20 competitions and has a cumulative footfall of around 5000 with the budget of around 12 lacs while NSL is intracollege event conducted between diferent batches of the college competing in around 10 sports each year. Other than this numerous festivals like ganesh chaturthi, holi, lohri, garba, etc. and individual sports compititions like NCL, NBL etc. are conducted by cultural and sports society respectively along with some events from the literary and PDS society.

The fee is quite high compared to other government colleges. The final year students fee structure is 11700/- per semester including hostel fees which is compulsory and 16000 mess fee. The fee for new comers is around 125000/- per semester while mess fee is same. With the quality if hostel and the facility the fee is only a little bit expensive but taking a view over the average package offered by the college it too expensive.

The SBI Bank present inside the campus offers lower rate of interest on Education loan and easy availability. While college offers scholarship on merit-cum-means basis to the merit students with lower annual income which is easily available if you have right documents.

Since it's a non core subject so girl ratio is quite high and as a result their are various extracurricular activities conducted in the college other than sports as already discussed earlier. It's a National institute so students from various states study here with around 30% students from Southern Indian states makes the crowd quite diverse.

It's completely residential college and hence hostel stay is compulsory. The hostel are only around 400m from the campus. They offer double sharing room till 3rd year and then single room in the 4th year. The rooms are big and well furnished and maintained. It's better than a typical government hostel and thus more than what you would be expecting. Each year has a different hostel and each hostel has its own mess. Other amenities are proper with 24/7 supply of light, water ,etc.

The college has a strong Alumni network named as NIFTEM netwok because of good interaction among the senior-juniors. Their is a friendly behaviour among the two which leads to an excellent relationship and professionalism in the future. The group helps in various job/internship opportunities of the students of the college along with assistance in various problems from the alumnis working in particular sector havining comparitvely more experience.

The college prepares almost on the basis of application filled from the website taking JEE Mains rank as the criteria. Total no. Of seats is 180 and thus a merit list is prepared accordingly. Once your name appears on the list , addmission fee is deposited to confirm the addmission and then proceeded with document verification. An extra spot addmission round is conducted if seats are vacant after the third round.

It's my final year so obviously I wouldn't like them now because they have been torturing us for the past 4 years now. But all the faculties are well qualified and are interested in student's improvement. They complete the respective course well on time (except for few exceptional, it's found everywhere). While talking about Research part, all the faculties are very helpful and will try their best in guiding and assisting students to achieve their goal.
