Remarks

A GOOD College requires a good infrastructure, Good level of Teaching and Good level of Opportunities for students. I think my college lacks in all the three above mentioned criteria. No doubt, the college is improving gradually. It feels good to see the positive changes taking place right now. Some faculties are very hardworking , inspiring and keeps our hopes alive. This year, the placed students percentage was quite higher than last few years. I would say it is among the top 10-15% Engineering Colleges in India but as we know that our level of education is so old fashioned and low as compared to other countries, it hardly matters we are in top 10% unless we are not in any IIT or NIT. At last i would say if you are not able to take admission in IITs or NITs and want to pursue Engineering , then the choice of choosing this college is not that bad. But it has got a long way to go before my college can bevlisted in GOOD Colleges.

Course Curriculum Overview

4

Couse Curriculum for B.Tech (CSE) is not so different from other Engineering colleges including IIT and NIT. I mean that in the first year , we had to concentrate on other branches knowledge more than ours. We had to study basic Mechanical , Civil , Electrical and Chemical parts in the first and second semwester alongwith some basic part of our Computer Science Branch Knowledge. Then in the Second Year , almost 70% focus on our branch alongwith some Economics and ECE branch knowledge which i feel is important for our branch for staring some StartUps as well. In Third Year , 90% focus is on the branch knowledge fully and 10% to Biology (BME branch) and language subject which is regular from First Year. Now coming to the last and Final Year, the theoretical knowledge is completed and it's time to implement it practically through Projects Or Interships as Student's choice. After completing the full B.Tech Course , here i have not mentioned my branch because after that 4 years , we become a Complete Engineer who's job is to make a World a Better Place by using his/her knowledge.

Placement Experience

3.5

Placements and Internships again i feel is better than 90% Engineering Colleges in India excluding IIT and NIT. But as compared to the rise in Cost of Living , the rise in annual package in placements is small. The internship opportunity is not so good unless you have some exordinary talent to attract others( mainly in CSE branch for Coding Skills). And this goes same for placements, if you have good skills then you can get placement of yours choice. Last but not the least, The Placements for branches other than CSE , IT , ECE, EE is almost nil which is the same scenario for 95% Engineering Colleges in India. And if you still want to be placed , then you have to improve your coding skills and work in an IT sector irrespective of your Branch/Stream.

College Events

3.5

Events and Fests celebration is Okay in my college. We can't expect IIT and NIT level of participation. In First Year , we had a Freshers Welcome Event ( Compulsory Event). It is not that good which i feel is normal for my level of colleges. In the Second year, there are some fests and events related to technical subjects like Coding Competition, Enterpreneurship events and other Non-Technical events like singing ,dancing, photography, etc. But the overall participation of student's and college management is not so good. So don't expect a high social life here.

Fee Structure And Facilities

The fees structure is the most important factor which puts this college over other Engineering colleges in India of almost same level in terms of education, faculties, events & fests , placements and Internships , etc. Actually , all the Colleges under MAKAUT or Techno India Group (KOLKATA) have the same fees structure recommended by higher authorities. If you are not resident of West Bengal as i am , then the course fees for B.Tech is approx 4 lakh including placement cell charges (90k per semester). But for the residents of West Bengal , they have separate TFW Seats which costs approx 60k for them for the full course. I think this is very feasible as compared to other other private Engineering Colleges. There is no hostel facility provided by college , so there are other external expenditure monthly not included in the above mentioned College Fees.

Fees and Financial Aid

For the residents of West Bengal , they have separate TFW Seats which costs approx 60k for them for the full tution fees. But for others, the tuition fees is almost 4 lakh. They have some national scholarships offered by central government to the students who scored 80% or more in 12th standard and other central and state scholarships only, but no other scholarship test of themselves for economically backward and bright students. Now coming to the loan facility , it is easily available from any bank because the college is AICTE and NIRF Accrediated. Also the tution fees is pretty much feasible, so the banks don't hesitate in giving loans to students. Here, most of the students are from Bihar and they are pursuing their study from Bihar SCC SCHEME loan provided by Bihar State Government.

Campus Life

3

Events and Fests celebration is Okay in my college. We can't expect IIT and NIT level of participation. So the infrastructure area of the college is very small as compared to other colleges. But they have managed to arrange all the lab facilities as much as possible. All the departments or streams have got sufficient space , but Mechanical department has no Automobile which i feel is another big drawback of my college. Also the College Sports Ground is too small for all the activities and that too not in the college, it is somewhat 1 km away from college campus. The Canteen Facility is also very low level. The Indoor Games Section is almost equivalent to Null.

Hostel Facilities

3

There is no hostel facility provided by college , so there are other external expenditure monthly not included in the above mentioned College Fees. Alternatively you have to opt for Mess or PG. This is the biggest drawback here and there is no hope of construction of it as well(as mentioned on it's official website nsec.ac.in). For food and shelter , you have to find a mess which is not very good but have no choice after admission. The location of college is almost like a village. But the transport facilities are good (Metro, Bus , Local Train).

Alumni/Alumna

The majority of students from the college are placed in software industry. A few students choose the core engineering courses. Some college events like Branch wise Alumni meet, Annual Tech fest and Reunions help to connect the alumni to the present students. The Ragging act is very rare here, so it's a good sign of positive energy around college freshers. But on the other hand, the sad part is they doesn't actually make any effort to connect to the seniors. The seniors are quite helpful in choosing the path towards your next step. They organize various events and cultural programmes where they really guide you to a better of yourself.

Admission

I had qualified both the entrance exams (JEE MAINS & WBJEE) through which it take admission in B.Tech. I got sufficient rank in both the exams for getting Computer Science branch in this college. For taking admission, i had to do it's counselling procedure online and wait for the result day (seat allotment result) and got admissuon letter confirming my seat in this college in CSE branch through JEE MAINS rank. Then following the procedure , i completed rest of my procedure in the college campus (Kolkata).

Faculty

3.5

The faculty of my college is not so satisfying to me till now. This is also because of Language difference we have ( Kolkata & Bihar) as all the teachers can't speak that much fluent English and they have a Bengali accent in them. Also ,their knowledge i think is sufficient for the course but not that expressive in distributing their knowledge which is lacking in them. But i can confirmly say that they are better than 90% teachers indulge in this Course excluding IIT & NIT.

Placement Experience:

Well as far as mh knowledge students get to placements from 6th semester itself . Well there are placement classes from 3rd semester itself . The placement track record of the college is quite good with most year about 90% gets placed with good companies comming like Deloitte, EY GDS , JP MORGAN, Oracle , offering high amount of placement offers like around 20+ lpa . Well I am not sure about my plans maybe if the palacement is good I'll take it or will be preparing for GATE (Whose courses are also provided from college .)

Placement Experience:

The senario of placement in all of the private colleges of West Bengal are more or less the same. Majority of the students are placed in Service Based Companies like TCS, Wirpo, Infosys, HCL, Accenture, Cognizent, Capgemini, Tech Mahindra, etc. These companies offer anywhere from 3.6 to 6 lpa packages. Only a handful of Product based companies come in these private colleges and cherry pick 2-3 student per college only. This is the reality of all the private colleges, not just our college. If you want to crack a high paying job, you will have to do it off campus. The students are eligible for internships from the 6th semester itself. The college does try to provide internship to students but only a few students end up getting the internships and most students need to find internships on their own. Some companies which came in 24-25 session which offered an internship and PPO are Amazon, SAP Labs, Accenture, etc. For a detailed placement stat, go to our college's website and look for training and placement stats. The college is honest in putting these stats. The stats are mostly reliable. The highest off campus placement in 24-25 session was by Snehadeep De, who secured a SDE role in Amazon with 47 lpa CTC. This was off campus so the college had no role to play here. The highest on campus placement was by two students in the company Juspay. They were offered the SDE role for 27 lpa CTC. The average placement of all the CS branches will be around 5-6 lpa. And approximately around 60-65% of the students get placed. This is the ground reality. And its the same in all of the WB private colleges. If you want to keep a backup option in case you don't want to get a 3.6 lpa job then start preparing for GATE, CAT or Civil Services from your second year. Its always preferred to have a backup option cause you can't trust a private college for providing you jobs.

After the 6th semester we are eligible for the internship, also we can apply for both on campus and off campus placements. In our college some companies like Geotech, Infosys, Code Clouds, Unibit solutions visit every year. Average package is in the range of 3.5-5 Lakhs per annum and highest package is nearly 6-7Lpa. But post covid time our placement record decreased a bit. Nearly about 80-85% of CSE students get placed every year. Also I am currently appearing in interview of different companies for placement.
