Remarks

Overall a good college to do your mbbs as you have lots of time to study for the md/ dnb preparation and also due to the pure fun college life.

Entrance Preview

I got admission through AIPMT - all india pre medical test , 2007 secured air 200 Opted for this college as this is the best govt. medical college in punjab .

Course Curriculum Overview

3.5

Course curriculum is as per the standards laid down by the mci -medical council of india . course includes 4 profs - 1st prof - anatomy , biochemistry , physiology .2nd prof -pathology,pharmacology, microbiology, forensic medicine . 3rd prof - eye, ent , social and preventive medicine. 4th - medicine ,surgery, gynaecology , paediatrics.

Internships Opportunities

Yes internship is conducted at rajindra hospital patiala . It is of 1 year duration . you learn lot of clinical skills during that period.stipend is - inr 9000 per month .

Placement Experience

4

After completing your mbbs you have lot of job opportunities or you can chose further studies like doing md/dnb . If opting for job ,you can expect a salary around 50k in any private hospital or you can also clear the pcms exam and get a government doctors job .

College Events

4.5

Annual sports event of the college is conducted in feb -march every year . The cricket tournament is a worth mention which draws large crowd and teams from other colleges including the govt dental college patiala .badminton , athletics ,swimming etc are the other events . Also a cultural festival named aura is held annually which includes dancing singing events and also a gk quiz .

Fee Structure And Facilities

As it is a govt college so as expected fee is on the lower side 25,000 annually and about 20,000 annually for the hostel .However the fee for the students admitted on nri quota is quite high which is around 2 lakhs per year.Hostel also has a/c rooms if u r opting for them you have to shell additional 25,000.

Fees and Financial Aid

I dont think any scholarship or loan is offered by the college. However u do get the merit certificates in case u get a distinction in any subject in final .

Campus Life

4

Gender ratio is balanced . Campus life is nice and cool lot of places to hangout like the college cafe, swimming pool, cricket ground . Hostel parties like the lorhi celebration ,holi celebration are awesome. There is no particular political activity in the college .

Hostel Facilities

4

Hostel facilities are good , however during the 1st year you may have to live in sharing ,but after that u get single room .Mess food is also of good standard ,and canteen opens 24 hours during exams .In case you decide to reside out of hostel ,nearby the

Alumni/Alumna

Senior students are very friendly and helpful . They guide you in every aspect like studies practicals, sports , cultural events . Ragging in the campus is banned .

Exam Structure

exams are on yearly basis . but in between class tests , tutorials are interspersed , marks secured in these tests help you to get a good score in the internal assessment , which helps you to clear the prof exams . particularly important are the send up e

Faculty

3.5

There is some concern about the shortage of faculty in some departments particularly in the non clinical departments but the crucial clinical and hospital oriented departments are well staffed and teachers are pioneers in their respective fields .

Course Curriculum Overview:

the curriculum “is well-planned … as per NMC (National Medical Commission) guidelines.” Practical classes are included daily alongside theory. “practicals are also included each day along with theory classes.” The AETCOM (Attitude, Ethics, Communication) component is explicitly mentioned, which is good because it shows attention to non-technical competencies. there are 4 levels of exams in a year — mid-terms, “send-ups,” etc. Some students feel the curriculum is stressful.
