Course Curriculum Overview
The curriculum is fine. Here we follow ffcs(fully flexible credit system), where students can choose the faculties, subjects, timetable according to their interest. Each course may have a combination of theory components, lab, projects. Each course will have different credits. In one semester we have to take a min of 16 credits and a max of 27. By the time of graduation, you should've completed a minimum of 180 credits. There is two internals called CAT( Continuous Assessment Test) and one Final Assessment Test (FAT). Along with these, there will be Digital Assignments to be uploaded, and also small quizzes will be conducted.
Placement Experience
VIT tops in terms of placement. This year's highest package is 40lpa. Many students got 10+ LPA packages. The total number of students placed in recent years was always above 90%. The college won't provide internships, though they forward emails regarding callup from other companies. Other than that internship, one had to do it on his own.
College Events
There are mainly two events. 1.) Gravitas This is the tech fest in my college. It is usually conducted two weeks before the Diwali holidays. It comprises mostly of tech-related events. Clubs will conduct and organize events. There are free as well as paid events. The best part about this is there will be food stalls all over the campus. 2.) Riviera This is the cultural fest. Usually celebrated around February or March. It is a 3-day event. And each night there will be shows, featuring different guests each night. Along with that, there will be many fun and games stalls in the morning. One major drawback is that during the pro shows, girls and boys are made to stand separately, with a barrier between them.
Fee Structure And Facilities
Extensive. As with any private college, VIT is also expensive. Here fees are divided into categories. There will be 5 categories. 5th being the most expensive. These are decided during the counseling time accredit to the availability of seats and the ranks we got in VITEEE
Fees and Financial Aid
We've heard VIT has scholarship programs for the poor but don't know anyone to confirm if it's true or not. Many banks offer student loans at a reduced interest for students of VIT. Till now no one I know got any of those.
Campus Life
Good enough. Labs are well maintained and updated. There are clubs and chapters to offer extracurricular activities. There are sports facilities line football stadium, basketball field, tennis, badminton, squash, table tennis, swimming, etc.
Hostel Facilities
Hostel facilities are good. There are different types of rooms to choose from. Single bed, 2 bed, 3 bed, 4 and 6. Each has a AC/non AC option. Hostels are well maintained and mess food is good and tasty.
Alumni/Alumna
Yes. VIT is ragging free. There is a good rapport between seniors and juniors. They are quite helpful in settling down during initial days and for guidance in subsequent times. Alumni networks also come occasionally and take special classes for students.
Admission
We have to write VIT's entrance exam called VITEEE. After that, they will call us for counseling, on the basis of our ranks. The whole seats available are divided into 5 categories. The higher the categories higher you have to pay.
Faculty
Faculties can be good or bad. You will find some good faculties, as well as some horrible ones. Generally, students prefer faculties who shower marks rather than their teaching skills. Some faculties won't be cooperative and are very strict. They won't give any concessions for anything. And there may are other faculties who are very lenient. They may increase your marks, give you free attendance, and much more.
