Remarks

I completed my B.A. Political Science from Gobinda Prasad Mahavidyalaya. It was established in the memory of Gobinda Prasad Singh, a social worker with a noble purpose to extend higher education among poor people. The college is affiliated to the Bankura University. The college basically aims at promoting higher education among weaker people of society and groom them enough to make them hireable and independent.

Course Curriculum Overview

4.5

As per the course curriculum, it is strictly followed as per recommended by Bankura University. In B.A. Political Science, in beginning semesters we had 2 core, 2 electives and one additional subject, as we proceeded into the final semesters the main focus turned to core subjects and abit to electives and the additional subjects were removed out slowly and the focus of syllabus tended on the core subjects.

Fee Structure And Facilities

The fee of the college is very much feasible, as the per year fees for B.A. is approximately Rs. 5000. This is so in order to help to make education affordable to weaker sections of the society, and available to all.

Fees and Financial Aid

There are some good scholarships available for meritorious and economically weaker students. One can easily get information on it either from the reception or the faculty. For other people, they can still avail for state and other scholarships if they meet the eligibility criteria and ask the faculty for further guidance over it.

Campus Life

4

College also supports extracurricular activities alongside academics and motivates sportsmanship of the students. The computer labs of college are quite fine but need improvement further, while the auditorium is completely amazing, it is spacious and quite comfortable as students are supposed to sit there for hours at the time of the seminar.

Alumni/Alumna

Some of the senior students were helpful either it being the handover of notes or helping us in any subject related query, they proved to be useful in any case. But some were non-co-operative and unfriendly, to maintain a gap between seniors and juniors.

Admission

College usually takes admission through online procedure. College provides no strict guidelines for the general courses and students just need to pass their school board exams or equivalent examination to be eligible for getting a seat into general courses. However, for Honors courses, students need at least 45% aggregate marks. I got admission into this college very easily because of this, I was provided with forms to fill and asked for documents to evaluate if I am eligible, after that a small portion of the fee was to be submitted apart registration. A 5% relaxation is also offered to reserved candidates in honours cut off.

Faculty

4.5

The principal of the college is Dr Samir Kumar Kar. I have observed that most of the faculty members are well qualified and amazing. They are holding the degree of post-graduation and are often helpful towards the student's growth and provide good guidance and are quite helpful too. The faculty also played a big role in inspiring and making us curious to learn more and more.

Course Curriculum Overview:

There are several prospects, especially peer-to-peer counseling, where you get a mentor. We call it mentor mentee program. So, there will be groups of students, and each group will have a mentor who helps you whenever you face any issues whether in real life or in your academic journey. They’re always there for you. There are also remedial classes, and extracurricular activities are included in the curriculum. You even get the freedom to choose what you want to pursue creatively, like joining poetry clubs and similar groups. Right now, I’m at Banaras University, and the curriculum here is really good. We have sessions on public speaking, how to conduct interviews, and many other practical skills. These are highly commendable because they help you in professional situations like the one I’m in now. However, I would say that teachers could be a bit more active with electronic tools like using PPT presentations or audio-visual methods instead long lecture sessions. As for exams, I wouldn’t say they’re too difficult because there are many weekly assessments and sessionals, which actually help you evaluate yourself better.

Course Curriculum Overview:

I used to read so many novels from my childhood and that inspired me in getting attracted to this field. We used to have the fecility of having seminar in the end of every month after compleating of each lessons. And this process helped us in true education. After every year professors from differnt parts of the country used to come for a seminer for overall groth of the students. Actually is theory teaching style is followed in the college, according to me some developments in the practical teaching can be used. Semister is held at the end of every six months and the exams are used to be moderate in nature.
