Remarks

Overall feel of the college is good. you will get a lot of exposure to the outside world and you will get to meet the celebrities you dreamt to meet. Hostel life and campus life with the various fest makes and with the india's most beautiful campus makes

Entrance Preview

JEE, 230/480. I opted because it was one of the old IIT institute and had all basic facilities plus I want a core branch.

Course Curriculum Overview

3.5

Course curriculum could have more practical. There was a lot of theoretical courses which doesn't add any value to an engineer. First year courses was basic foundation. And you can change your branch after first year. In 2nd year you got to know about various specialization which you can pursue as a career in civil. But research facility was not that much if you compare to other branches or research institute like IISc bangalore.

Internships Opportunities

Yes. But there are only few companies in my branch. For branch like CS, EC there are a lot of opportunity but for the branch like civil and mechanical or chemical there are very few internship opportunity. Most of the people try for offline internship through internshala or contacts. People do intern in 3r year. Stipend depends on the company in which you are going to have internship. Vary from 5000 to 60k. Overall experience is decent. If you get good internship, then you will probably also get a good job.

Placement Experience

4

Most of the companies are IT and startups. CS, EC, MnC guys easily gets jobs as compared to other core jobs. Google, FB, microsoft, Flipkart, oracle, snapdeal, abzooba, Mu sigma are top hires. There are few companies in civil like lnt, TT, ASEC infratech. One should prepare for coding to get a job because there is a lof IT and analytics companies comes to the campus.

College Events

5

There is an cult fest alcheringa which has seen at least 50,000 crowd from north east and it is the biggest festival of north east in any college festival category. Events vary from drams, dance, music and etc. Techniche is technical festival of college and people from engineering college visits college from all over india. Entrepreneurship development cell is also active in the college and people can actively participate in the events to get exposure to entrepreneurship.

Fee Structure And Facilities

College fees is feasible and it's not too much expensive condsidering the fact that accommodation fee is too much low as compared to outside colleges. Fee however recently increased as high as 65k per sem. But you can get tution fee as scholarship if you have decent grades.

Fees and Financial Aid

Loan can be easily available from the two banks which are situated in the college. One is SBI and canara. you can easily apply for the loan when you are in the IIT. there is merit cum means scholarship which picks students considering there family income and grades. for merit the weight age is 50 and for income also it is 50. so they evaluate marks based on both criteria. An sc and st guy can easily avail the scholarship and there is also center sector scholarship for sc and st people.

Campus Life

4

Gender ratio is 1:10. that means 10 boys over a girl. diversity comes when you talk about the various branch and humanities courses. there are people who are doing Phd, M Tech, B tech and humanities courses which makes it the mixed culture place. Doing B tech is more useful than doing M tech or Phd in the same field until and unless you have immense interest in the branch you are studying in. There is basic level of politics in the college and hostel elections. There are 40:60 ratio of south:north people. A lot of clubs are there which are active.

Hostel Facilities

4.5

Hostel facilities are decent enough. everybody have single rooms and hostel culture is best. you have your own playgrounds and there are inter hostel festivals also where you can showcase your talents through various events. Mess food is not that much goo

Alumni/Alumna

Yes alumni comes during the placement season and they also help during the preparation. there is a network of IITG people almaiit where you can interact with other people and can know what and where they are presently. Helps a lot if you are going for a particular field or MS or something. Alumni in the company where i presently working was helpful during the whole process of placement.

Exam Structure

Exam is divided into 4 parts. 1- Quiz 1, 2- Midsem, 3- Quiz 2 , 4- End sems. proportion of marks is 10:30:10:50. If you do good in midsems and quizzes there are good chances that you will end up with at least 8/10 grades in that particular course. Most pe

Faculty

3.5

1st year faculty was excellent. But then quality of faculty decreases as you progress further. In 2nd year faculty was assigned random and some of the faculties doesn't have proper knowledge of the subject like solid mechanics which is one of the most imp

The placements here are actually decent. The average package for my branch was around 13.5 LPA last year and branches like CSE, EC and EI have a higher average package generally. The campus is visited by almost all of the top companies including Google, Adobe, Facebook, etc. The detailed placement records are available on the website of the institute. The percentage of students getting placed ranges anywhere between 70 percent to 92 percent. I plan to get an M.Tech degree after completing my B.Tech course from an IIT if possible.
