Remarks
To many rules for a college student. And then we have to make projects in many courses with having absolutely zero knowledge and they expect us to make novel projects. Then we have to make 2 assignments and 1 quiz. Then there are so many rules to keep girls and boys apart, like reg tag people and all.
Course Curriculum Overview
It's a little bit tricky actually. We have a 'Fully Flexible Credit System' which lets us choose faculty, slot, and subject all by ourselves. But the downside is while registration is going on, almost all the time their server can't cope up with the number of students trying to register their subjects and end up either getting bad faculty or not getting the subject at all. The in a semester we have 2 mid-semester exams which comprise 30 overall marks, and apart from that we have to do 1 quiz and 2 assignments or 2 quizzes and 1 assignment which is again 30 marks, and one Final term-end exam which contributes 40 marks. If there is a lab in a course then we'll have a mid term and final term lab exam.
Placement Experience
VIT has a 100% placement record in recent years. So getting a job in it is a very safe bet. Placements can be of multiple types like some companies will only provide internships but not a full-time job. Then we very often get Mails from ous HoDs of internships which are sponsored by companies undertaking the internship with a decent stipend.
College Events
There are numerous amount of events happening in VIT but the major highlight is 'graVITas' in the fall semester and 'RIVERA' in the winter sem. Various kinds of events happen to range from cultural to full technical. Numerous hackathons are conducted by various chapters in VIT.
Fee Structure And Facilities
The fee structure is a little bit expensive for a common man, like if someone takes a 3 bed AC hostels and one Special mess, then only the accommodation fee will exceed 100,000. Apart from that, without scholarship avg fees is around 200,000. To study in VIT with decent accommodation and without scholarship one has to spend min 300,000 and the personal expenses for their ward.
Fees and Financial Aid
Very little as far as my memory goes. But my college does offer fee waiver schemes for students whose parent's salary is less than 100,000. Also in the entrance examination of my college if the participant's rank is less than 20,000 then they get a scholarship.
Campus Life
We don't have proper ground to play, one ground is under construction, and one has some kind of helipad on it which makes it unbearable to play on. We also have a swimming pool but not sure if it's maintained or not. Coming to labs we have some of the states of the art labs. Altogether the labs are pretty good.
Hostel Facilities
Would rate it 8 out of 10. It is certainly better than many of the Government college hostels and there are many facilities available. We have A/C rooms available too and there are shuttle bus available for hostel buildings to academic buildings.
Alumni/Alumna
Yes, They are very helpful with their experience. They are sometimes useful as alumni for our placements as they attract companies here which helps us get a job. Also, they guide us for our higher studies by suggesting to us the best ways to go ahead.
Admission
After passing out from my school in 12th, we have to give an entrance examination called VITEEE. Then when results are out we'll get to know our rank and one by one we'll be called. If we want to get admission, then we have to go. Then rank wise we will get to know how many seats are left in each branch. When our time comes we can choose which branch we want and can select to be a hostellers or Day boarder. Then we can pay our fees for the first year and our seat is confirmed.
Faculty
Almost all the faculties are very well qualified and are excellent in teaching, some are quite grumpy. Most faculties dont want to get into students business but some are really helpful. Some faculties will be giving a lot of work to students themselves and wont teach properly.
