Remarks

DTU is a place full of exposure. You can decide your path and pursue it. There are ample opportunities. College life is fun and a great learning experience. The focus should be on acquiring skills and developing good personality.

Course Curriculum Overview

3

The course curricula is same for all branches in first year. You will study Maths & Physics in both semesters of first year. Basic Electrical, Basic Mechanical, Applied Chemistry, Engineering Drawing and Programming Fundamentals (C language) are taught in either first or second semester. Additionally, you can take one elective in both semesters separately. The electives offered include Sports, French, German, Communication Skills, environmental science, etc. Second year onwards you will study branch-subjects. There are no electives in 2nd year, but in 3rd & 4th year you can take two electives (including those offered by other departments) in each semester. In final year, a BTech thesis is compulsory. The exam pattern is simple: midsems and endsems. In odd semesters, midsems are held in September, and endsems in November. In even semester, midsems are held in March while endsems are in May.

Placement Experience

4

Placements are good and it is not difficult to obtain a job. But most jobs are in non-tech field, except computer-branches like CS, IT, SE, ECE. Other branch students have lesser opportunities. CGPA should be above 7 to get a good placement. Internships are also available but highly competitive. Developing a good skillset is crucial, for example, good programming skill.

College Events

3.5

Events keep happening round the year. The events time is mainly around January-March, in which literary fest, cultural first, technical fest, and sports first are held. Apart from that, different societies also organize various events, like workshops, competitions, etc. Freshers week is also held for thr newcomers.

Fee Structure And Facilities

Fee is quite high but less than other engineering colleges. It is around 1.5 lakhs per year and has to be paid in the beginning of the academic year (around August). Fre concessions are available for EWS students.

Fees and Financial Aid

The college offers financial aid to students of EWS category. A partial or full fee waiver may be granted. Scholarships are available (of 5000rs) flr year toppers in each class. Sometimes, some charitable scholarships are also available.

Campus Life

3

DTU has a big sports complex well equipped with sports facilities. There are lots of societies, cultural (eg. Drama, music, dance, literature, debating, etc) as well as technical (robotics, electric car, etc.) and also social service (like NSS, enactus). So there is a great deal of exposure. lab facilities are mediocre.

Alumni/Alumna

Almuni network of DTU is very strong thanks to the reputation of erstwhile DTU. Many of them are CEOs, businesspersons, civil servants, actors, etc. Seniors are approachable and ready to help. The senior-junior is especially strong of you are part of a society.

Admission

The admission process is straightforward. It is based on JEE Mains, after which students have to apply for counseling through JAC DELHI. You can get branch of your choice based on rank-cutoffs. The counselling is common for three main engineering college s of Delhi- IIIT, NSUT and DTU. Once you get a branch, you can grt it upgraded later (at the end of first year) if seats are remaining. Note that graduating from a Delhi School makes you eligible for the 85% reservation offered to Delhi students by DTU/NSUT/IIITD.

Faculty

3.5

Faculty is qualified and good. Most faculty members are PhDs. But teaching methods are outdated, just like all other engineering colleges. Teaching is mostly self but you can get notes from teachers. Most of them are not strict.

Placement Experience:

Students after completing third year are eligible for placement. Placements start before starting of fourth year, and it requires students to have no backlogs in any subjects. However companies can imply their own rules to filter the students such as minimum CGPA criteria. But placements of our college is one of the best placement for a non-IIT college, despite having so many student intake.

Placement Experience:

Placements are decent, average package goes from 5lpa to 10lpa. Highest it has went 84lpa in Amazon so far and can for sure grow in future. 7th semester students become eligible for placement drives and companies like amazon, microsoft, newgen, tcs, ibm, etc are major recruiters here. Around 80% students do get placed but you can definitely be among them by refining your skills and maintaining a good cgpa. I plan to go for off campus placements as well as I'm interested in AI related roles but hoping for even better.
