A Moderately good college

Positives of this college is mostly the fact that it is a functioning college. With labs and classrooms. The college has AC too. The DSC is also a big positive point. Negatives: the people, the redundant course, the initial 1.5 months of ragging.

The course curriculum is extremely old like rest of the colleges in Calcutta. But apparently 7th sem has a data science course which I am looking forward to. Other than that the exam structure is fairly simple, there is a midterm exam with 20 marks based on MCQ which you attempt on the PCs in the lab. The end semester exam is a written exam.

I tend not to look for internships through my college, and as per my experience, no one from my batch has landed one through the college either. The placements are variable. Highest is probably the package provided by Microsoft at 9 lpa but that's for a technical support position, which many people may not be attracted towards.

I stay away from almost all events in the college since I believe most of them are just an excuse to take money from us. The tech fest is known as Vivarta, it is famous for the gaming and robotics competitions. The college fest is Techno Sahotsava. I have never been to it and I do not plan on going either.

It's 79000 per semester. Quite expensive. Plus there is a Rs.2000 exam fee every semester. Most colleges in Kolkata take around 40000, but then this is a private college so they make their own rules. The facilities provided by the college are okay. The PCs in the lab run a pirated version of Windows, though.

I have no idea about any loans or scholarship facilities provided by my college. But j have a friend who is studying on a loan. Punjab national Bank has a branch in the college premises, I guess people can avail loans from there.

One of the most redeeming features of this college is that it has a fully functioning DSC. DSC is for Developer Students Club, which is an initiative by Google to train students around India so that they can make projects to help the community. Except this we have Rudra, the sports club.

The seniors are helpful if you find the right one. I have some really wonderful seniors who have shown me and taught me multiple things. But there are many seniors who rag the students and torture them in the initial days of the college. This is a very severe issue in our college that no one seems to be bothered about. Whenever confronted, the seniors will always justify their actions as "we taking an Intro".

I got admitted into this college through WBJEE. After the counselling procedure, this college was alloted to me and I went to the college and enrolled. The enrollment procedure was simple, where one person explained the fee structure and then it was upon us whether we chose to continue or not. The admission cell is on the 2nd floor of the building. The faculty of the college is very variable. The faculty in the CSE department are all very dedicated, but because of the subjects they teach, they sometimes seem to be very boring. There are a lot of professors who are constantly looking out to give opportunities to their students.
