Remarks
SPAV has many facilities and funds that have been given for the student learning and welfare must be spent in a wiser way. There is little power to the students for student affairs and culturals as there is no student counsel. There is a huge process of taking permissions from different authoritative members for even a small event which is very time consuming especially for a course like ours.
Course Curriculum Overview
The curriculum is simple but changing over time, as Planners have to be aware of current conditions and issues in cities and the world. There is an overall course objective, which needs to be fulfilled in the end of the last semester. There are 4 assessments in total from which one is mid term exam and end semester examination, other two assessments can be given as assignments or class tests or presentations.
Placement Experience
There are very few placements provided in SPAV. But our college does provide internship. Internship is compulsory for both Planning and Architecture courses. I did my summer internship from an MNC in Chennai, for which I got my contact from a senior faculty in our college. The internship also provided me with stipend.
College Events
Our college celebrates Indian festivals in our campus like Ganesh chathurthi, Janmashtami, Dusshera, Onam, Ramzan, Christmas & Sankranthi. We celebrate Republic day, Independence Day, World Architecture day, etc. We also have cultural events like Sports week, INYAN (the college fest), Hindi divas, etc.
Fee Structure And Facilities
The fee structure is very feasible as it is a government college. SPAV is a college of National importance and comes under Ministry of Human Resource Development. Compared to other colleges SPAV has much better infrastructure. The campus, buildings and classrooms are very spacious.
Fees and Financial Aid
No scholarship or loan facility is offered in our college that I know. For further details please contact the administration of SPAV from the SPAV Website (go to the section contacts) and contact for these details.
Campus Life
We have alloted rooms for extra curricular activities, there is dance room, music room, sports room, prayer room, there is a survey lab, art lab, GIS lab, computer lab, a central library, an auditorium and there are a number of Open Air theatres in the campus.
Alumni/Alumna
We have a great network of the SPAV Alumni, we have Facebook and WhatsApp groups and the groups are very active in case of sharing new information about current affairs and jobs availability from all over India.
Admission
I had to write JEE Mains paper 2 to enter into the college, my rank was in 2000s AIR. I had to go through JOSAA counseling in which I had to choose my college preferences. After that, the JOSAA assigns you to a college according to your rank and college preferences. They give approximately a week time to go to the college for counseling. You'll have to take your original and xeroxed documents to the College. Documents which include 10th certificate,12th certificate, Aadhar card, bonafide certificate from school, passport size photos and a doctor certification of your health condition. After verifying all these details they start the formalities for your admission. Paying the fees and orientation of the course you have joined in.
Faculty
The faculty are well educated and experienced. Most of the professors are young and are aware of current technology and trends in our field. They provide us with great knowledge they had gathered from experiences which include travelling to other countries and infrastructure and facilities there and how we can incorporate them into Indian context.
