Remarks

In my first experience of living away from home I would say it's one I have cherished. The fellow students, seniors and teachers are great. The ideas that we are taught about are truly what is needed in our present scenario. It's not perfect but I did enjoy my time here and it's really been worth it.

Course Curriculum Overview

4.5

The course curriculum is designed to be multi-disciplinary. The core disciplines in the course are economics, sociology, psychology, political science and history. In the first year of your bachelor's there are introductory courses for each of these disciplines along with English and one major Indian language. There are also 101 classes to maths and science disciplines. I'm the second year one is required to choose 3 of the 5 aforementioned disciplines. In the 3rd year, 5th semester the students are taught various academic perspectives and in the 6th semester the students are expected to write a dissertational thesis, upon which 50% of the semester is graded.

Placement Experience

3.5

The college doesn't provide internships but they can be arranged through its contacts. Campus placements are conducted each year for master's second year students. The placements are good, especially for a arts institute, with good packages and govt recruitments.

College Events

2.5

Vaomalan is the college fest celebrated each year in February. The college fest is usually a 3 day affair with various performances and stalls being set up. The fest in itself is closed for outsiders but the feeling and experiences are nice.

Fee Structure And Facilities

Slightly only the more expensive side. For each semester the fee varies but overall it ranges from 40,000 to 60,000 rupees, inclusive of tuition and hostel fees. Other than that the extra costs of studying here aren't that high.

Fees and Financial Aid

The students can avail GOI- Post-Matric Scholarship, for those who belong to the ST/SC community. For non-ST/SC students the college provides student aid and such. Other than that students can also avail education loans from various sources.

Campus Life

4

The extra curricular activities aren't that many to begin with. The college is small and intimate with a string focus on academics which means that many a times there aren't many intra-college events. However the college does encourage participation in various inter-college events.

Hostel Facilities

3

7 out of 10. For the boys who have been shifted to the campus and have a permanent hostel the facilities are good. The girls as of yet haven't been shifted to the campus, as the infrastructure isn't complete and are living in a leased building, the facilities are doable.

Alumni/Alumna

I honestly do not know about the alumni network that much, a lot of alumni however do work in the development sector and a lot of organisations working in the sector will have people from TISS. The senior-junior dynamic in TISS is very relaxed with hardly any strict hierarchies that exist.

Admission

For the BA courses, one has to give the TISS BAT exam. The form fill-up usually happens by March and the exam happens in May. The results are usually declared before the CBSC results. If you have been selected for the course, you will have to get your documents verified in the institute itself and then the admission is confirmed.

Faculty

4.5

All the faculty members come from reputed colleges and universities, some Of them are truly great teachers and even the others are good. The institution needs to keep good faculties and hand them proper contracts if they want to maintain their quality.

The curriculum is neither difficult nor easy. It is a good curriculum for even an average student. The teacher mostly used the traditional teaching method. It needs to be improved. The exam's difficulty level is not so high again good for average students

Course Curriculum Overview:

The curriculam is designed for all round development of the student and to make that person an expert in that field, these aspects influeneced me to choose it. Very well, with extra paper of real world application on each subject it ensures that we take something from the course and become industry ready The teachings methods and cirriculam are excellent I don't think any changes are required Exams are all year round, every month and are extremly difficult to deal with, as Xavier's bar is very high.

Yes, there is no specific place where we get to know that whether the college is open or not on a specific day like the day which has been declared closed by the government. The college doesn’t provide this facility for us. We have to move all towards our home to the college to get this thing.
