Remarks
Being a sectoral college, there is good demand for the students in related fields where thet are held in high esteem. One thing where college is lacking is in marketing itself. Not many are aware about the college and its course.
Entrance Preview
CAT 91 percentile. In general category people with even 80 percentile can get selected as there is lot of wait list movement.First of all it is a sectoral college. The campus is one of the most beautiful. Admission process consists of GD and PI. GD is very structered and every body gets a chance to put his/her point. Interview is conducted by the senior proffesors and IFS officers.
Course Curriculum Overview
Its a unique course where apart from the general management topics, we also have subjects on the development and livelihood sector, environment, forestry, conservation, etc.
Internships Opportunities
My internship was with General Carbon at Mumbai. We did survey on what steps companies are taking for mitigating climate change. Stipend was 10k per month.Some other companies where students got internship are WWF, ITC, TERI, MPFD, Chattisgarh Forest Dept, Periyar Tiger Reservr, Oushadi, etc
Placement Experience
All students were placed.Companies which came are FINO, SERP, WWF, NCDEX, EPCO, MPFD, MFP, ORLP, BRLP, RBS, TERI, etc Avg package is 4.5 lacs and highest pkg of 8 lacs was offered was by RBS .
College Events
Each and every festival is celebrated by the students. There is a cultural club among the students which helps in organizing such events. There are conclaves and meets like CSR india conclave, Daksh , Alumni meet,etc. Annual college festival Kalpataru is celebrated every year in Feb.
Fees and Financial Aid
Scholarship facility is provided by the govt to deserving SC/ST students.
Campus Life
Good ratio of females in campus which is improving every year. Our batch had students from almost every part of India. There is always some sort of extra cirricular activities going on in the campus where every one participates. Also there is a field trip in each year. In first year I got the chance to visit South India. Some places visited were Bandipur park, tea factory in Ooty, Munnar , Eravikulam national park, Periyar trekking and stean ride, back waters of Kochi, Kanyakumari,etc. It was a fun filled 2 weeks trip. In second year we visited places like Bundi near Kota, FRI Dehradun, Rajaji National Park, Dhanaulti ,etc. This trip was for 2 weeks. All travrl and accomodation arrangements are made by the college. Students only have to pay for the food.
Hostel Facilities
Fully residential college. Hostel fees are highly subsidised and included in the course fees of Rs 4 lacs for gen category students. Rooms are on twin sharing basis and are very big and spacious, with internet connection, geyser, water purifier, etc.Mess
Alumni/Alumna
We have a good alumni network who are connected through our alumni cell. An alumni meet is conducted every year. Also interactions are held with alumni who are on a short visit to the college or IIFM. Many alumni are placed in good organisations in high positions. There are also many alumni who have set up their own business.
Faculty
Faculty is very experienced and also consists of some IFS officers. Classes are held regularly without any laxity on part of faculty.
