Which is better: VIT Vellore or BIT Sindri?
I am a B.Tech CSE student at VIT Vellore, while my elder brother studies at BIT Sindri. Therefore, I can offer a more unbiased insight into why I chose VIT Vellore for my engineering studies-
- Infrastructure- Both the institutions have a huge campus, but in terms of infrastructure, VIT Vellore is better. Its labs are modern and well equipped, whereas BIT’s labs are old and require maintenance.
- Placements- VIT delivers better packages. Moreover, it is a better choice for IT placements. On the other hand, BIT Sindri delivers better core placements with companies like Tata Steel, Tata Hitachi and JSW visiting the departments for recruitments.
- Exposure- VIT offers really good exposure to its students in the form of internships, student exchange programs and training. At BIT Sindri, internship offers are a rare phenomenon. Tata Steel does offer PPOs to BIT students.
- Faculty- The faculty at VIT is more experienced and qualified.
The yearly B.Tech course fee at VIT Vellore is approx. INR 2 lakhs, while that in BIT Sindri is approx. INR 20,000. But VIT offers much better infrastructural facilities and exposure to make up for the huge fee difference.
Due to these reasons, my brother suggested that I pursue my B.Tech CSE at VIT Vellore instead of BIT Sindri.

BIT Sindri is very good for CSE in many ways be it infrastructure, campus life, hostels or education. Few colleges have separate departmental buildings but BIT has a separate building for all its branches.
The reasons to choose BIT Sindri are as follows:
Reputation: BIT Sindri has been ranked 5th among the best engineering colleges in Jharkhand as per NIRF report 2023. The college is approved by AICTE and affiliated to Vinoba Bhave University.
Infrastructure: BIT, Sind offers world-class facilities that include multimedia auditoriums, seminar rooms, well-equipped modern laboratories, and a campus-wide network. The institute has around 80 laboratories for various courses and disciplines as well as 14 laboratories under the Unit of Excellence. Hostels are available for students.
Placements: More than 51 companies visited the 2023 BIT Sindri placements. The latest report is stated below in tabular format.

Campus Life: BIT Sindri offers you a well-established library with enough books from various branches and some competitive books for GATE and CAT. The school has many clubs such as HNCC, IETE, LEO, MODEL, ISTE, ROTARACT, and others. These clubs are dedicated to fields ranging from coding to art to social services. They provide a space for students to explore themselves and develop their skills. The college has a sports club which organizes cricket tournaments etc.
Alumni network: Dr. Ramjee Prasad. (6G expert, Aalborg University, Denmark), Prof. BN Mishra. (Former principal, NSUT) and many other eminent persons are famous alumni of that institution.
So, if you are planning to pursue CSE BIT Sindri, you must. Apart from good training, it also offers a good learning environment. All facilities and infrastructure of BIT Sindri are in good condition. So you won't regret joining.

One of my friends is in BIT Sindri, so I might be able to answer your question here. Both are very popular institutes, but I will give some information about BIT Sindri’s pros and cons. Analyzing that you can then make an informed decision.
Why BIT Sindri would be a better choice:
- Not at all expensive, fees are almost negligible here.
- BIT Sindri has been a brand in itself since 1949.
- Has a rich alumni base with great success history.
- Want to crack GATE, CAT, IES, UPSC, JPSC, GRE, TOEFL, SSC, BANK/PO in your current graduation year. You will have ample time to study for those exams while you are in college.
- Attending college is not compulsory.
- Vast campus with beautiful infrastructure(450 acres).

Why you should not choose BIT Sindri :
- Very less number of classes (Even HOD's and professors of college don't recommend taking jobs here because of fewer classes)
- Labs are just for writing assignments and journals.
- Infrastructure is good from many private colleges, but not sufficient professors and lab technicians to help you, and those who are present are not enthusiastic enough to make you learn something new.
- Even there is no Wi-Fi. You will have to go to labs to avail that. You can't even learn by yourself from courses or NPTEL or any other online sites.
That's all about BIT Sindri. Honestly speaking, Personality development and industry exposure are much better at VIT.
