Which is better, VIT Vellore, Thapar Patiala or SRM?

- VIT Vellore: near Chennai + Bangalore = more industry exposure and startup culture. NIRF rank 11 engineering. fees ~Rs.2.5L/year. batch size huge (~8,000/year) pulls down averages though. south India students generally thrive here
- SRM: okay for CSE if other options fall through. decent but inconsistent placements
for CSE at all three — go Thapar if north India jobs and better peer quality matter. go VIT if south India + industry exposure is more important or you want to save on fees. SRM only as last resort ngl.

Although all three of these colleges are well-renowned for their engineering courses, there are certain factors that particularly interested me to opt for VIT Vellore. I am currently pursuing B.Tech CSE at VIT.
- VIT Vellore ranks excellently in the NIRF Engineering rankings, even better than the other two colleges mentioned by you. In the 2023 NIRF engineering rankings, VIT Vellore ranked 11th.
- VIT Vellore is located near Chennai and Bangalore. This allows the students of VIT to gain the much needed exposure which allows them to grab good career opportunities after their graduation.
- Academically, both VIT and Thapar are equally placed. VIT offers good academic opportunities, but the North Indian might face some cultural shock.
- In terms of faculty, Thapar has an advantage. But even VIT has some really good teachers.
These factors made me interested in joining VIT Vellore. I would suggest you consider VIT for your BTech as it offers good infrastructure and ample opportunities.

If you consider the median packages, you will find VIT to be slightly better than Thapar. Anyone who maintains a good CGPA can avail of the best job opportunities here.
- VIT Vellore has a bigger campus although it has to accommodate more number of students.
- Thapar offers more freedom to its students and does not have a restrictive campus life like VIT Vellore.
- Undoubtedly, Thapar has better-equipped and maintained hostels than VIT Vellore. The facilities are top-notch including sports and internet connection.
- VIT Vellore fairs better in terms of alumni network and study abroad opportunities.
- Ranking-wise too, VIT Vellore scores better than Thapar University.
Overall, both institutes have their unique strengths and weaknesses and give an equal edge to each other. So choose the institute that aligns well with your interests. As a whole go for VIT Vellore if you value education more than qualitative hostel life or go for Thapar if you want a good quality hostel life.

- It offers great academics. The curriculum followed is perfectly balanced between practical learning and theoretical concepts. The labs are fully equipped. The university has signed an MoU with Trinity College for providing a research-inspired educational experience to students.
- Thapar has many societies. You can register in any of these and develop an interest in whichever stream you want. Each branch has its own students chapters. The aim of the student chapter is to help students excel in technical fields.
