Is it better to go to NIT Srinagar than VIT Vellore?

As a student of VIT Vellore, I find myself eligible to only comment on my college.

VIT Vellore is a private college with top class infrastructure and other facilities. It is ranked highly in the NIRF 2023 engineering rankings, at 11th position. The infrastructure of VIT is top notch, with well equipped and modern laboratories.

VIT offers really good IT placements, and the college faculty is highly qualified and experienced. The students at VIT are given plenty of opportunities in the form of internships, student exchange programs, and training offers.

Apart from all these pros of joining VIT, the con is that its fees are quite high. The fee structure is divided into several categories, and is different for each engineering branch. But the minimum academic fee is approx. INR 2 lakh for the first year (excluding hostel and mess charges).

Despite its high fees, VIT offers good infrastructure, faculty, academics, extracurriculars, placements, and brand name. This is why, I would recommend you consider VIT Vellore for your engineering studies.

It is better to choose VIT Vellore if we compare it with NIT Srinagar. Based upon a few criteria like academic excellence, ranking, and placement records VIT Vellore stands out to be the better option than VIT Vellore.

Courses offered: Main courses at VIT BTech, MTech, MBA, MCA, BCA, and BArch in varied specialization from Vellore. The tuition fee at VIT for a variety of degrees ranges from 57,000 to 2.53 lakhs of rupees annually.
Ranking and reputation: The university with the greatest number of placements is VIT Vellore, which has entered the Limca Book of Records. This is the ninth time they have broken this record. VIT Vellore ranked #11 among all top engineering colleges in India. This proves the academic excellence, infrastructural ability, placement success, and reputation all over India.
Accreditation: It has been accredited by NAAC with an A++ grade.
Faculty & alumni: The professors are very good at teaching and most of them hold a PhD degree in their field of expertise. Lt. Shubhangi Swaroop (first female pilot in the Indian Navy), Papias Malimba Musafiri (Rwandan Minister of Education), Atulya Kaushik (Co-Founder, PrepInsta Prime), and many more eminent personalities are notable alumni of this institution.

VIT Vellore was ranked 18th, whereas NIT Srinagar is ranked at 67th. VIT is also a private university. Both the institutes are great in terms of providing quality education.

Courses Offered:

NIT Srinagar offers BTech, MS and PhD courses in CSE and ECE discipline. The course fee ranges between INR 80,900 to INR 1.36 lakhs per annum.
Major courses at VIT Vellore BTech, MTech, MBA, MCA, BCA, BArch. The course fees for various courses at VIT ranges between INR 57,000 to INR 2.53 lakhs per annum

Placement:

NIT Srinagar:

NIT Srinagar students received 70% placement last year.
Major MNCs and domestic companies visit every year to recruit top students from all engineering branches.
Some of the famous recruiters are Wipro, Infosys, Amazon, Oracle, Capgemini, Oxigen, Pinnacle, HP, etc.
The average annual CTC offered is around INR 9 LPA. The highest CTC offered was around INR 17 LPA.

VIT Vellore:

VIT Vellore has made it to the Limca book of records as the university that received the most number of placements. They have achieved this record for the 9th time.
A record 700 companies came for recruitment during the last placement drive.
Popular recruiters were Wipro, TCS, Deloitte, Cognizant, Infosys, TCS Digital, Bank of America, Accenture, Microsoft, Indian Oil Corporation, Appdynamics, etc.

Infrastructure:

NIT Srinagar:

Apart from being a scenic place, it also offers good infrastructure for students. Other facilities include separate hostels for girls and boys, a sports centre, and a healthcare facility inside the campus.

VIT Vellore:

It is spread across a vast area of 300 acres. This is more than thrice the area of NIT Srinagar.
There are around 20 hostels on the campus with a student strength of around 22,000 living in hostels.
VIT Vellore also has multiple sports complexes that are spread across a 20-acre area.

The infrastructure and placements rates of VIT Vellore are unbeatable. However, NIT Srinagar is an institute of national importance and the NIT tag offers various opportunities. So, you should join the institute according to your convenience.
