Graduates of NLSIU go on to become judges and leading lawyers in India and abroad. However, please note that becoming a judge takes a long time and a number of important steps.
- Education & Experience: Firstly you need a UG degree, i.e. BA LLB from a recognised university like NLSIU. After that, you need to have at least 7 years of practice as an advocate, pleader, or public prosecutor.
- Exams: You need to qualify for the High Courts or Public Service Commissions (PCS-J) of the respective state to be appointed a judicial magistrate. For this, you must sit for a written exam, interview, viva voce, and 1 year of post-selection training. After serving for a minimum of 3 years as a judicial magistrate, you’ll become a district judge.
As long as you are ready to work hard and fully commit yourself for this goal, you’ll surely become a judge. NLSIU will offer you top class academics to groom yourself for the legal field.
